The Spurs have informed swingman Reggie Williams that he has been waived, a move that likely will set the team’s opening-day roster at 15.
Williams, 29, logged 11:12 of fourth quarter action in Friday’s preseason finale against Houston. His dismissal appears to have secured the Spurs’ 15th roster spot for Rasual Butler, a non-guaranteed camp invitee who will open his 13th NBA season with his eight team.
The 36-year-old Butler played 14:36 minutes Friday, often running with the Spurs’ regular rotation players.
The Spurs had to make a final cut by Saturday, in order to clear waivers in time for Monday’s NBA roster deadline.
Not surprising really, Butler looked really good in preseason and a have a feeling we're going to need his shooting this year.
