Have we tried convincing Ray Allen to return?
I'm sick of seeing wide open 3-point bricks. I know the guy is a fossil, but he'd still be better than what we have now. Plus, he would create more spacing. make the call, Riles.

Re: Have we tried convincing Ray Allen to return?
Should've gotten him (or Dorell or Beas or hell even Daequan Cook) instead of a waste of roster spot for Amar'e Scrubemire

Lets face it, we are not gonna be great on defense anyways, but also being bad from 3 point land is going to cost us a lot of games. We need an assassin. We need him. If the feeling is not mutual than that is one thing, but we have to try.

Re: Have we tried convincing Ray Allen to return?
Ray Allen hates us or I guess Spo more specifically. Our best writer Ethan Skolnik made it pretty clear there is no chance of a return from him to Miami.

no thanks. he's retired. he just doesn't want to admit it to himself yet.

Re: Have we tried convincing Ray Allen to return?
As QJZ mentioned, Ethan has reminded us constantly that Ray didn't agree with much of anything with Erik Spoelstra and that is the reason he wouldn't come back to the Heat. He was already pretty average when he was with us, two years have passed since then. It's time to move on, he's retired and even if he comes out, likely won't be much help.

Says who?
Our two losses were against two teams that were on top of the East last season.....yet from those losses you have determined our defense as useless? Spite of making a 21pt come back and winning by 20pts vs Houston?
I swear fans done lost their minds around here.

Yes, that is what I am telling you. Stoudemire,Green,McRoberts,Chalmers,Dragic,Bosh...all defensive liabilities.Even Wade and Whiteside have their breakdowns. The only shining spot right now is Winslow. No, we are not going to have a top 5 defense. What the hell are you on that you think otherwise? Houston game is one game and they were missing 2 of their starters. Winslow played great D on their 1st scoring option. Houston just went cold in the 2nd half. We still allow too many open 3's and don't get back on defense in transition...so I ask again, what are you on that u think otherwise?

lol, GROW SOME NUTS! plus we're only 4 games into the damn season
You mean to tell me you've precisely predicted what sort of team we are in just 4 games into the season?

Re: Have we tried convincing Ray Allen to return?
and furthermore w/ how much you've criticized our team this early into the season you think Ray Allen is our answer?
A guy who is 2 years removed from the league, who is old and prob not in game shape!

Grow some common sense. We have guys on the team that are are mediocre at that end . History shows that. The hell does balls have anything to do with it? 4 games in, what have you seen that it will be any different? And it's not like I said we would be bad. I said we wouldn't be great. Did you expect great D from our roster this year?

Re: Have we tried convincing Ray Allen to return?
We have a frontcourt of 7'0'', 6'11'' and 6'9'' guys, one of them being an elite rim protector, one of them being a great help defender and one of them being a great 1v1 and perimeter defender. We have Winslow coming off the bench. Our coach's biggest, maybe only, asset is his defensive strategies. And we're not gonna be a great defensive team. LOL sure.

Saying it is one thing, showing it is another.Elite rim protector doesn't prove much. Al Jefferson ate him alive in game 1. Whiteside hasn't had to deal with caliber players like that since. Let's see what happens the next time. I will hold off on my criticism a little longer. Bomber, so what if he has been gone for over a season. He'd still be a better 3 point option than anyone we have on the current roster.
I didn't not know about his gripe with Spo. Can someone please post the article on him and Spo? I tried googling it, but couldn't find it.

Whiteside's value is located on the team defense, not his 1v1 defense. His presence allows the team to play a certain way defensively. It's no coincidence we're a statistically much better team defensively when he's out there. Al Jefferson gets his on most players in the league on 1v1, the more important thing to do is to slow the team down.

Team defense is great and all, but there will be times where he needs to to lock his man down or send back his shot because helping out will leave others open near the basket.
