Lakers pick
Don't we have a Lakers pick?
Anyone have any info on this pick?
It's looking like it might be a good pick in the next year or so.

Re: Lakers pick
As long as the lakers pick this year isn't 1-3 then we will get their first round pick in either 2018(1-5 protected) or 2019(no protections)...
"If at least two years after the L.A. Lakers conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia, then the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Orlando protected for selections 1-5 in 2018 and unprotected in 2019; if the L.A. Lakers have not conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia by 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey their 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando"

It seems extremely likely that the lakers pick is going to fall in the top 3 at this point, which completely sucks for us.

Re: Lakers pick
Never know with the lottery. If they end up with ~3rd worst record I'd feel okay about it.

No 2017 draft is deadline.

The only team worse than them i can even think of is Philly.

Re: Lakers pick
Yeah, you never know with the draft. Let's say Philly gets their pick this year, could we wait to use LA's pick until '18 when its unprotected?
The future is bright

The Lakers seem to be content to play Bryant to sell tickets and tank games. So they should finish with the 2nd worse record. This has them with about a 55% chance to be in the top 3. Or in other words, Orlando has a 45% chance to see them fall out of the Top 3.

Re: Lakers pick
It's all about if The Lakers draw a top-3 pick.
Even if they have the worst record, they can still drop outside of the top-3.

Re: Lakers pick
So I am confused. If the Lakers keep their pick this year doesn't that just mean we get their unprotected 2019 pick?

Re: Lakers pick
It's still early!
Philly is probably anchored below the Lakers for the worst record though as they have no established players at all.
Some other team could come completely unglued and challenge for more losses.
And the Kobe Retirement Tour could actually produce a few wins! It might not take that many for them to climb to the third worst record and stand a pretty decent chance of being bumped out of the top three so that Philly gets their pick this year.
Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!! C'mon dude! Win a few games!

No, you can't trade picks that far out. If the lakers keep their pick this year we get two second rounders.

No we get one more crack at it. They just have to convey to Philly in 2016 or 2017, then we get one 2 years after that.

Re: Lakers pick
I'm as certain as the blurb from RealGM.
"...if the L.A. Lakers have not conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia by 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey [2nd round picks]"
The "by 2017" appears to be inclusive.

So if they get a top 3 pick in the next draft, then we end up with 2nd rounders?
