Has Delly played his way out of Cleveland?
I just don't see the Cavs paying him the contract that he's played himself in to. Yes, Mo only is signed for this year but Delly appears to be playing himself into a 4 yr 30 mil or so contract

Would be a mistake to let him go. I hated him last year, but ironically he has become the cavs best role player outside of the big 3. Also shows you that the cavs need to make a move to compete with gs/spurs

I think that the only move that the Cavs really need is to get healthy. While they do seem to have issues with long athletic teams neither of those mentioned are that.

they need a defensive oriented center, the defense in the paint has been atrocious this season

I'd be surprised if they don't match an $8 million per offer.

Yeah i dont see why we wouldnt pay him next off season. He helped the team out and took a small deal this year im sure he wouldnt have done that if he wasnt gonna stick around.
Hope we give him a good contract.

Cap goes up, Delly stays put if Blatt's system remains. Who else are you going to have come in and run Curry ragged? Delly is THE reason Curry took 4 games to settle into the finals.

No wayyyyyyyyy Cavs don't match, they see his value.. he is amazing.
LEbron should have thought about it before he signed his friend TT to his outageous contract, Ed Davis is making what 3/18? and is a better player than TT.

You clearly undervalue Tristan. While I think he's overpaid I think you undervalue what he does for the Cavs. Fact is, he was the single factor that did the most to slow down Atlanta in the playoffs. His offensive rebounding caused the Hawks to have to devote 3 people to the defensive boards. That was all because of Tristans offensive rebounding.

Tristan is a slighty above average at his position with no offensive game what so ever, how do I undervalue him? he can not score on his own and a lineup of LBJ at the PF still is a better lineup than TT at the PF, and a small lineup of TT at the Center is only good this year because Mozgov is slumping.
Atlanta problem with rebounding is a general weakness of theirs, none of their bigs is a good rebounder, every decent rebounding big is causing them problems there so I wouldn't say it was particulary Tristan.

Here's the thing people don't appreciate about TT's little run: (1) Gasol got injured. Gasol was outplaying TT before he pulled his hamstring. (2) Delly has as much to do with the Hawks' series as TT. Atlanta enjoyed most of their success in a half court offense after their PGs broke down the defense. They were not a run-and-gun team. The fact that Delly could stop Teague from penetrating slowed them down much more than having to secure the defensive rebound. Finally, Delly puts a body on the opponent's big men in the playoffs (as evidence by his dust ups with Gibson and Horford) which enables our big men get more rebounds. If Kyrie's playing heavy minutes, I'm not sure TT is nearly that dominant on the boards. (3) GS deliberately went to a smaller line up to force us to play TT at center after the Cavs were up 2-1. The results speak for themselves.
Last year's playoff run was the perfect storm of events for TT and he might never replicate that performance for the remainder of his career. That's why his agency was so dead set on negotiating off of that performance and why they didn't sign the tender. In world where LBJ doesn't care whether Klutch is successful, TT is either playing on that Q.O. or still holding out. Either way he never see the money he's currently getting.

Dunno about that. There are credible reports out there that Ryan Anderson might be getting a max contract this offseason. Ya, 20 mill for Ryan Anderson. If TT was on the market this summer, there's no way he doesnt get what hes making now (maybe, mayyyybe a mill or 2 less...not enough to be a difference for a team over the tax as much as the Cavs are)

Ryan Anderson is a really good offensive player. He can single handily change the offensive dynamic for an entire team. That said, I wouldn't pay him $20 million per over 4 years. Just because other teams are offering players stupid money doesn't mean you have to follow the trend. The best thing about TT is that he's always healthy, always playing hard, and can always give minutes. His floor is high enough that you can keep him for the duration of the contract even on an overpay.

Thats how the market works. What other people are offering him is what he's worth, and there's no doubt in my mind that some team would offer TT at least what he's getting paid now.
And it's not just Ryan Anderson. Same reports are out there of Tjones and Motijuans (sp?) receiving 14/15+ per year. TT's contract might be large, but thats just what he's worth in this market

So, you are saying that LeBron is better than Tristan. That's profound. Fact is LeBron at PF is most times better than LeBron at SF.

Re: Has Delly played his way out of Cleveland?
Gasol only outplayed TT game one, besides that TT outdated every big he faced last post season bar green.
He's super important. Our defence with him at the centre position has been insane.
He's overpaid. It we ain't winning **** without him.

Re: Has Delly played his way out of Cleveland?
It's crazy how polarizing Tristan Thompson has become.
One thing people don't mention about Tristan is that he is a major threat at the rim and teams collapse when he slips a screen and goes to the rim. That always leaves someone open on the perimeter. Offensive rebounds = more possessions = more points. That's why lineups with Tristan at center usually score 120 points per 100 possessions and outscore teams by like 10.
We will see how everyone settles into their roles healthy.

I would say Delly did a much better job of slowing down ATL. He took Korver's ankle out in game 2 and Horford was ejected early, in a game that went to OT, after Delly went low on him.

Not at all. Just giving an opinion on who shut down the Hawks the most in that series.
