Excited about this team thread

Post#1 » by mattorl1220 » Sun Jan 3, 2016 8:10 pm

Every day I sign on to this board and look at all the gossip. I LOVE it. I love the positive, the negative, everything that comes with being a loyal fan of a sports team. Heading into the new year, I think we all need to take a look at ourselves as fans and make a positive change. We need to really get behind these guys. I know we want to win every game and get some national exposure. It has been a tough few years post Dwight. I GET IT!! WE ALL GET IT!! I just think lately this board along with the team has been shifting to a more negative outlook. I know this won't change overnight but I thought this exercise could be a step in the right direction.

Name one thing (or more) you enjoy watching or what you see out of every player.

Elfrid Payton- I love his tenacity in late close games. He is becoming a go to player in crunch time and he does not shy away from making a play
Evan Fournier- His clutchness and how he makes so many great plays penetrating into the paint playing 2 on 2 with Vooch
Tobias Harris- The way this year he is letting the game come to him and always showing great effort. Probably the most consistent Magic player this year. Love what he is doing.
Channing Frye- They way he is conscious about his role and doesn't deviate form it.
Nikola Vucevic- Quiet assassin who is putting in the work that is obviously translating to the court. He is a special player and will eventually be an All-Star
Victor Oladipo- one of the top defenders in the league. Pleasure to watch and enjoy that he doesn't care what people think. Has the DNA of a true leader.
Aaron Gordon- ENERGY. Guy is flying around the court. Once the game slows down for him who knows what kind of player he can be.
Jason Smith- He is the teams Big Brother. Whenever someone is getting bullied Jason is right there to make the appropriate reaction. He never takes it too far but gets the point across. Oh yeah and that 18 footer he hits at like 98%
Andrew Nicholson- I appreciate how smart the guy is. It might look like he is in slow motion but his brain is running a mile a minute and continually makes the right decision with the ball in his hand. Which is mostly shoot!
Mario Hezonja- Everyone expected this cocky Euro player who thought he was Kobe but we got a humble kid ready to put the work in. Sweet Stroke too.
Shabazz Napier- He is always ready. Love his excitement on the sideline. Young guy that is soaking it in and always been a winner.
Dewayne Deadmon- Always great presence on the bench and always running the court hustling when he gets the minutes.

Scott Skiles- Really seems to know the game very well. Has the guys locked and loaded MOST nights which is something we haven't seen yet. He is bold and not afraid the shake things up. He holds the players accountable and I believe is developing the young guys a lot better than most critics give him credit for.

I feel a lot better after writing this. 19-15 after we won 25 last year. Let Rob and Scott do their jobs. They are doing a pretty damn good job so far and just appreciate the guys we have now. They need us!

It's just fans expectations have changed mate.

The positive thing is now that we as fans can expect to see wins as we're relevant again in the NBA, well until yesterday when we got exposed against a seasoned team. But I think most of us expect bumps along the way it's naturally the way things go. Long seasons will do that to a team.

I think we are taking on Skiles' persona.

So so true. Before the season began if anyone would have dared to predict 19-15 this board would have been ecstatic. Now we are wanting more. I'm happy where we are but with the east being so wide open we are not far removed from being one of the better teams. If somehow we could make a move....we'll see.

FYI. A bunch of people are no longer excited about this team after the past few games. IF they are, they are excitedly angry!

I understand. We are playing terrible. I'm sure most of us figured we would eventually have a cold streak and lose the last few games. Just the way we did it is very discouraging. I get it. I just wanted to show support and be more positive. We have a great team of young professionals who I believe will figure it out sooner than later. GO MAGIC

Well, we can look at it this way. At least we are not the Rockets. A team with (2) Superstars who play sub-.500 ball.

I have come to the realization that this team sucks and this organization is happy and content with losing. I am becoming less and less a fan of the Orlando Magic each day. It is like a roller coaster with the Magic and my time and energy is too important to put into something that just does not care. We have too many players on this team who don;t want to play in Orlando. They do not care about the team, city or organization.

Personally, I think Oladipo is a cancer on this team. His attitude sucked when he was sent to the bench. He is not a team player. I can also tell that the players do not like him at all either

Can you enlighten me? Is this suppose to be the thread where everybody talks about how much talent we have and all of the soon to be Orlando Magic All Star players? According to most on this board, we have 2 All Star Players, a league MVP and the 6th Man of the year - Coach Skiles should be getting Coach of the Year and Rob Hennigan will be getting GM of the year. It's our Pure Magical Season right? Pfffft

I put more time, energy and effort in trying to get off work at a reasonable time to race home and watch the Magic play then these players put in trying to win games. This team is nothing but a bunch of entitled softies

I suppose I could enlighten you -- but it would probably be more fruitful if you would read the OP. That may be asking for too much. Perhaps you might wish to start a thread where everyone can say something negative about all of the players. That would be fun.

Perhaps I should start a thread at how this fanbase has accepted losing as part of its culture. It makes me vomit. These player play like garbage and fans still think they are so "talented'

I don't think we are giving the team any too much credit for writing what we like about the players. I also don't think the fan base has accepted losing. We are all frustrated with the way the team has been playing but we are 19-16. It would be illogical and ridiculous to not notice the improvements we have made in just one season. It is good that we all have raised our expectations I am sure the team has too. We will bounce back.

I know I vent on here but damn I am so frustrated with this team right now. I was excited when we were actually losing games close (nail biter games) - I had hopes that one day were were going to be able to snap out of it and learn how to finish out games. We are just terrible right now and for people and coach to blame it on fatigue is just crazy to me.

Hey Coach, if they are so fatigued than why did you have a long, intense practice on their day off? It seems silly to me that these young athletes are fatigued. How come other teams aren't fatigued? That is just a terrible excuse as to why we suck right now. These kids are in the best shape of their career (at least they should be)

Something is not clicking int he locker room. There seems to be no fire in the belly to want to win.

I think losing all of those games down to the last minute has been too much for our guys. They were trying then with confidence. The last few games, I see a completely different team. The body language, the lack of effort, the terrible shooting, the stupid forcing the ball.

I know it is a losing streak, but we just don;t look like a very good/COACHED team at the moment. I am just sick of it.

We lost a few games against teams everyone expected to be better than us, so obviously we need to change everything.
