Willie Reed has left the Nets

Post#1 » by CalamityX12 » Wed Apr 6, 2016 3:53 pm

Can't find a thread for this so here it goes.

Per the blog, Reed has left for personal reasons.

If it's due to his frustrations of DNP and minutes~ good riddance.
I like the guy and he's shown some ability to play. But taking it to Social Media was not the way to do it.

If it's for family reasons, then I wish him nothing but the best.

Willie Reed has left the Nets

Post#4 » by Paradise » Wed Apr 6, 2016 4:24 pm

He shouldn't have gone to social media to throw subs but there was no excuse for Tony Brown to diminish his role either. Even Thomas Robinson called his minutes "BS".

I've said before that Tony Brown in some instances operates like he's getting a damn extension in the off-season. Pissing off a player and then sending him to the inactive list because you didn't like the way he handled his frustration will not look good in a face to face meeting with the GM. Evaluation means Marks is letting this happen to see how both parties handle the situation and both have failed miserably.

I hope Reed can find a home somewhere else. From what STH have said about him in different meet and greets that he's a good guy and passionate about the game. Good luck to him.

Wonder if the Nets signing Simms for the rest of the season had anything to do with it? Hope everything is ok but Willie Beast has been One Eye Willie him not getting playing time over TRob or even Sims says more about him than the coach.
His problem with PT might've been more than just his play on the court 2 coaches chose not to play him.

Sorry to see this happen, the guy is a decent player. He should have NOT gone to social media and even if you disagree with the coach, settle that in house.

Either way, blame goes all around here. The player should have been a good soldier and kept his mouth shut or at the very least, attempt to gain an audience with the coach to ask directly what he may not be doing enough to warrant playing time. Reed was wrong, and if I'm the GM i would have had to ask him directly if he wants to continue being here because airing team matters out in social media is a toxic action.

On Brown's end, I fully believe that just like Hollins, he's probably not good at communicating. You cannot be a successful NBA head coach in this day and age with poor communication skills. Steve Kerr is lauded by his players for being approachable. You want to have a coach that has guys ready to run through a wall for him, not one that isolates guys and doesn't communicate to get the best out of a player. I don't care if the 15th man is a scrub, you make him feel like he belongs and talk to him to let him know what you need from him, even if he is not playing. I bet the door won't even have a chance to hit Brown on his ass on the way out at month's end.

Hollins played Willie more than Brown did.

whatever. this season needs to end, and Marks needs to purge this damn franchise. I'm tired of amateur hour nonsense. You NEVER hear of crap like this from teams that are competent.

Tony brown is trash, and he deserves 0 consideration to be here next season in any capacity. that said, playing time has basically been dictated from marks since he was hired. Willie reed isnt good and we already say what he can do. marks signed sims and wanted a look at some toher guys, since, he likely wasnt bringing reed back anyhow.

and honestly, the reed love is overstated, he is your run of the mill garbageman type backup big. maybe marks preferes his backup/3rd string center being a shooter or someone who can play both big spots? either way,its no loss

The blog's title is misleading and clickbait. We have no idea why he won't be around for the next 6 games.

If he really thinks he'll make it in the NBA with this kind of attitude, he must be missing a few screws.

To me it makes absolutely no sense for a guy fighting to stay in the league to flip off the only team that has given him a decent shot.

I'd like to think Reed is smarter than that and that there is a legitimate personal issue going on that needs to be resolved.

reed has no jumpshot or much of an offensive game. no big loss, trob and simms do similar stuff although reed can block shots better.
