Get Steve blake tf outta here

Worst backup pg in the playoffs, if not the league. Gets burned, doesn't pass, over dribbles, weak, old, non threatening, walking mismatch, gets unforced turnovers. He better not be back here next season.

Or else what?

You'll still be here, still watching, still cheering and booing.

I think it's pretty obvious we need a better back up PG.

Anyone wanna make a list?

SVG needed Joel Anthonys contract to trade for a better backup PG like DJ or Mack after the Jennings trade. Joel got traded and for a better upside player too. I would do that again if i was in SVG position. Backup PG will be upgraded in the offseason no doubt.

Jose Calderon, Trey Burke, Devin Harris or JJ Barea, Lou Williams, and Rodney Stuckey could probably be had for cheap in a trade.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Geez, I always thought it was likely that Blake is short term. A usually steady if unspectacular journeyman PG at the end of his relatively long career. I'll bet they were hoping he wouldn't play as much as he has. In this series he has looked so athletically overmatched that it's painful to watch.

Jarret jack hurt but could be great off the bench. MCW can defend and attack the basket and bayless can shoot the ball well.

We went into the season with both Reggie & Jennings, Blake was a little above a camp body-bridge till when Jennings was healthy. We also acquired Marcus Thorton in the D-Mo trade, who likely would have taken a lot of Blake's time, if not pushed him out of the rotation completely.

I expect backup PG is on the top of Stan's list.

Good point that Blake came in as a 3rd string PG and as an insurance policy if Jennings didn't make it back. And that is about all the Blake is - a 3rd string PG. I'm fine that the DMo trade fell through, but if we hadn't done it at all, we probably would have picked up a backup PG from somewhere else. Oh well, still a great trade deadline getting Tobias, but that is besides the point.

SVG will certainly get us a good backup PG, and for that matter, will look at the entire bench. The Warriors bench could beat a lot of teams starters. It is no surprise they are where they are. We certainly need to improve our bench if we want to take it to the next level.

Potentially a 4th string pg had Dinwiddie progressed from his rookie year. I can't stand Blake either, but I agree it's important to take a step back and look at where we are. Obviously having to play him this much is not ideal, but it's worth it if it makes us better long term (Tobias), and we had some strange circumstances that forced Stan to play him a lot.

The Warriors and Spurs benches are unreal.

Ezeli / Varejao / Boban
David West / Diaw / Speights
Igoudala / Kyle Anderson / Simmons
Ginobili / Kevin Martin / Barbosa
Livingston / Patty Mills / Andre Miller

That might be the 5th best team in the West.

Well, I for one am happy to be talking about filling out the bench vs filling 3 glaring holes in the starting lineup.

He came in as a third string PG until Brandon Jennings comes back. Then Orlando gave us a gift and we made the Playoffs. It's all part of that trade. You want the Playoffs or to be sitting at home watching while Jennings leaves this offseason? He might be back this offseason. We'll see

Imagine we have Jennings right now. And Ilyasova/Markieff/D-Mo. :)

The guy is at the end of his NBA career... At his age you really only turn for the worse. TBH we're lucky he is still holding up playing fairly big minutes every game...

Blake sucks but he's our back up until the season is over. SVG has done a marvelous job building a starting 5 given the huge hole Dumars dug. He's built it on the sacrifice of bench players. It sucks to watch now but long term it's been the best route. It's too bad Diniwiddie hasn't panned out but this Blake situation is temporary. At most you'll only have to watch him be the back-up for 4 more games.

How bad is Dinwiddie? The kid is 6'6 and can shoot 3's. I figure he can at the very least shoot and defend but I am almost certainly wrong lol

Steve Blake isn't doing much offensively, so if we can improve our defense then there is no reason not to play him over Blake.
