Myles Turner off-season diary thread

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Thu Jul 21, 2016 4:59 am

I meant to post this the other day.

This is pretty cool. Myles Turner has agreed to do a off-season diary with the Indy Star this off-season for fans to get a closer look at his life outside of the basketball court. IndyStar just recently posted their first entry. It's pretty good, and i'm looking for more in the near future. Fun read during the dog days of summer...

Check it out if you havn't yet -

The experience went really well. I enjoyed my time among the celebrities. It was a cool experience for my first time.

What surprised me was how everyone handled themselves and carried themselves. We’re all celebrities, but that hasn’t really all sunk in with me yet, the fact that I’m just another one of the celebrities out there. I grew up watching a lot of these guys.

It was pretty special sitting close to Paul George during the ESPYs just because we’re creating a bond that is more than just teammates. We’re starting to get cool with one another off the court a little bit and that’s important for our chemistry on the court next season.

Turner seems incredibly mature for a man his age, has a great head on his shoulders and is going to be a great ambassador for the organization going forward. He and PG13 could become a lethal 1-2 punch here in a season or two, just as long as Turner progresses like many of us expect him to. And like he mentioned, creating that bond off the court with George could go a long way in ensuring Paul stays in Indiana after his contract expires here in a couple of seasons. Exciting times for the Blue and Gold, with one superstar and a rapidly improving big man with a unknown ceiling, they're poised to make a long playoff run sooner than later.

I completely agree.

It's incredible how similar Turner is to LaMarcus Aldridge, and now our head coach is the one who coached Aldridge in Portland.

Did we ever not let him play?

he played 22 minutes per game, he should play 30+ next season. (he's ready, doensn't have to improve.)

Don't worry, he'll get his minutes this season.
