The Carolina Panthers offense struggled today during the 4th practice of training camp. Though Ron Rivera pointed out in his post practice press conference that there were positives, the negatives were much more obvious.
The most glaring offensive miscues of the day were Cam Newton’s two interceptions.
The first Cam Newton interception came early in practice. For the second time in as many days, Shaq Thompson plucked the ball out of the air. Thompson also had an interception during yesterday’s practice, making this a trend. Cam Newton recently said his goal was not to throw an interception to Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis. Clearly, he should have also had his focus on Shaq Thompson.

Carolina Panthers safety Tre Boston grabs another interception off Cam Newton
Free safety Tre Boston intercepted Cam Newton for the second consecutive practice. And for the second time in as many days, the normally loquacious Boston refrained from chirping at the league MVP.
It’s like Boston doesn’t want to poke the bear.
“It’s more about making sure there’s consistency, doing it day in and day out. I want to let my actions do my talking for me right now,” Boston said. “Once we get on the road (against other teams), I’ll get back to talking.”
Boston’s pick Friday came when the offense was backed up inside its 10. Newton tried to hit Devin Funchess in the flat, and Boston made a nice play while keeping his feet inbounds.
“I had to go back to my receiver skills and just tippy-toe the sideline and get two feet in,” Boston said.
