Value of LMA

I know the Spurs aren't looking to trade him, but if they were to look around, what kind of offers could they expect and what teams might be interested.

I'm thinking they'd want another shooter and/or a facilitator at PG, along with maybe a defensive big. But I'd like to hear what Spurs fans think.

Really can't see them dealing him. I mean signing Pau to trade LMA just makes no sense, so I think we'd better just trust that Pop/Buford know what they are doing with the Pau addition.

Derrick Favors should be the obvious answer. Spurs get a great defensive PF, while the Jazz get a PF that is better offensively than Favors looke to be, to go with Gobert.

I generally agree and I think most know that even if they do nothing they're still going to be an elite team. But I think GM's often make moves not thinking "this is the solution to carry us next season" but rather "this is the best thing to do given our options at this particular time." So if conditions change, even recent moves can be revisited.

And I don't know if Pau was signed because they thought he'd be a great fit w/ Aldridge, so much as he's a good passer who'd be comfortable playing in the Spurs' ball movement system.

As good as he is, LMA can be a bit of a black hole at times and isn't the defender that Duncan was (even in his later years, his D was great). So if they can find a deal that replaces a significant portion of his scoring elsewhere in the lineup, and add another defensive big (like an Amir Johnson type), I think it's at least be worth exploring.

That deal may not exist, and again I agree he's unlikely to go anywhere, but the question of value is at least interesting and I could see it becoming a more realistic scenario a year or so from now.

It would take more than LMA to get Favors, even if the fit is better

He is 31 yo, but will be a solid all star type throughout his contract 2 or 3 more years. Pretty high Value IMO to a contender (like the team he is on). not as much to a mediocre or cellar dweller obviously. I like the Favors answer given above as far as value (maybe it takes LMA+ to = Favors due to age, but I don't see that happening in anyway.
