It's not an easy shot to learn in the first place so unless the mindset to spend the time practicing it it's not a shot that be done consistently so most kids move onto something with a higher reward to time spent... Kareem said he learned the shot at a young age and perfected it over his early years.. he added most coaches don't teach it early on because of limited time with the kids and as they get older it's not really a cool shot, slam dunks are cool, bombing from deep is cool, flashy above the rim moves off the dribble are cool... bounce bounce bounce turn swivel and shoot a slow motion graceful shot is not cool...
