If you could re-align your NFL division

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Thu Oct 6, 2016 5:34 am

32 teams in the NFL. 8 Divisions with 4 each. It all works out well.

But man, some of these divisions do not feel natural at all! Indianapolis in the AFC South...Dallas in the NFC East...

So if you could re-align the conference your team plays in with any three teams of your choice, what would they be? Why would you choose those teams?

For my Texans I would want my division to be:

Houston
Dallas
New Orleans
Denver

Houston & Dallas because the Texas teams. New Orleans because they are close and there are a lot of ties to the city here. Denver because I've heard that people in Colorado love it when Texans come to visit, so this gives them not one, but two fanbases to travel there from the Lone Star State every year!

I love where the Cowboys are at and all the history... but if there were going to be a realignment your list is probably as good as we could get. I could see KC in place of Denver with StL out of the picture but you're right about those folks in Colorado and their love for Texas license plates.

I'd put the Panthers in with a bunch of West teams so I could go to their games more and have them on TV all the time haha.

But realistically, looking at geography:

Panthers
Bengals
Steelers
Redskins

Would be a brutal division, but I would love to watch it!

I got to ask...why do people in Colorado love when Texans visit? Made a road trip or 2 myself there and never noticed any different treatment

I don't know because years ago Texans weren't exactly welcome up there. Some guys I was in the service with (30+ years ago) always warned against coming up there with Texas tags because there was a very good chance you would have a busted windshield when you left. It's not that way anymore.

I just prefer to have in-division opponents on the west coast. No more 10 am PST kickoffs lol.

That would be a ridiculous division. Part of me would love to see it, but part of me thinks "spread the wealth"

I have to agree with you. With our history etc., I want to stay right were we are.

If I could change one thing it would be to bring the Steelers, Browns and Colts back to the NFC where they belong. 3 original 8 NFL teams that went to the AFC after the merger.

I like replacing the Colts with Miami, but rather than have two teams from Florida and the ex-Oilers, I'd go with:

Miami
New Orleans
Houston
San Diego

"F**k the Saints!" is the rallying cry of Falcons fans. Can't take them away from us.

Denver usually plays in the late game. KC about half the time.

I loved the old AFC west with Seattle in it as well, but the current AFC West I wouldn't change for 4 teams, as all the rivalries are so strong with a rich history that it would suck to break it up. Seattle was the obvious one to move out when they did without much of a history.

Those would be some long ass trips twice 4 times a year for San Diego. That's kind of the opposite of what the OP was suggesting, geographically speaking.

Fair enough, but technically they all qualify as being southern teams even if SD is way out west.

Plus I've always kinda liked the Chargers and including them would also give my Texans two easy wins every year.

;)

I kid, but yea, I'd much rather have SD in our division than the Colts, Cowboys or Colorado Texans.
