Good read, key take away is the need for patience but also the glimpses that the players already provide at times.

I've reached the point where I'm counting down the days until we make a front office change. We've gone to great lengths to get the coaching staff up to the modern NBA standards, the next step is to move Mitch into retirement and Jim out of the picture. As long as its not Phil Jackson coming in, I'd be quite content to see a new face.

As romana shelburne reported this summer, it's highly anticipated Mitch will step down after this season if Jim steps down due to him failing his "promise". His promise of course of returning the Lakers to the finals or WCF.

Lakers really do need a fresh start. We have this great coach and semi bright roster. We need Ryan West in charge of this ship. He found us Larry and Jordan. Son of Jerry West.. We need to promote Ryan...ASAP.

The Lakers will go as Russell goes.

I'm kind of disappointed we are not tanking in this draft. Fultz seems every bit like the franchise guard we wanted.

Maybe we'll pull a Cleveland.

He really promised that, for the Lakers to get to the WCF or the Finals in like 3 or 4 years?

It seems the FO is worried about making the playoffs more than building a true contender to me.

If we're relying on Russell to get us there it might be a very long wait. I'd hope if the FO would pursue trades of any one and everyone at the deadline if the right package is offered over trying to sneak into the playoffs with this group. That would seal the deal that they stick with the core group which I think will be a mistake in the long run.

Yes man yes, Markelle Fultz is so worth trading off Lou + Clarkson so we lose buckets and put the pressure to score on the rest of the young core.

Fultz + Russell + Ingram + Randle and whatever 5 is freaking set!

I'm not as sold on this draft as league GM's are. Every 5 or so years we hear about this draft, that draft and others being "talented" and deep...only to see maybe 2 or 3 guys pan out to all stars.

Hoping for guards to come in and dominate or play well as a rookie is rare. Unless he's a 4 year guy he's going to struggle.

Bigs have the easier transition and until the Lakers stumble on one of those then we can talk of taking the next step.

The key is trading Lou and nick young as soon as possible

Get those two out for value asap. Nick sooner because he expires this season.

If we can find a taker for deng and take less years and salary back, do it. He is a small ball pf and cannot be playing sf anymore for extended periods against starters. But he is still a solid small ball pf. But is the lakers 3rd string pf (Plus Ingram played some mins there)

Those moves should happen asap

Then, moving some of the other young players becomes a possibility. Maybe a Clarkson for Noel. Or one of them for another young player back (like Clarkson out in a 3 team deal where the lakers got Marcus smart back)

Ingram Russell and randle are all keepers
Clarkson is a 6th man of the year type player
Nance is a glue guy, great role player

Find a center and a player to match with Russell and Ingram on the wing (I think Marcus smart would be a decent fit, defense and would allow Russell/Ingram/randle to all still have oppertunity to playmake
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

That Deng anecdote is just stupefying. Overpaid by, what, $50 million? Freaking ridiculous...

Hahahaha Larry and Jordan, now all we need is a Johnson and we can complete the trifecta.

3 yrs 52 mil vs the 4yrs 72 mil the lakers have him, so really the only difference was guaranteeing the 4th year. At the time of the signing most people commented that the 4th year was likely a necessary evil to get him to sign, so this latest revelation is nothing new, just confirms that the 4th year is what closed the deal.

I think we have the talent to be a playoff team... But we need someone to teach these kids how to play team defense... We're statistically embarrassing on the other end of the floor.

I honestly wouldn't make a trade right now based on just the record, because I don't think we have a personnel problem, I think we have a system problem, and I think it's on Luke to address it.

I would keep Ingram and Randle everyone else up for grabs . If we can trade Russell and lou for lottery pick , we have to do it. Fultz , Monk even would be HUGE upgrade. Monk is the guard we need when it comes to shooting. Fultz is going be franchise player.
