Really solid nomination class. Most of those guys are deserving, there's not really a bad choice (except for Jerry Jones).

I would really like to see Kurt Warner and LT get in

Ehhhh. I mean it is what it is, I won't lose sleep over it. I just think it's stupid when owners get in period. It should be reserved for players and very few coaches.

Well - the good news is he won't be going in because he owns the Cowboys. He's going in because he was responsible for completely changing the business model. As he is fond of saying - the pie grew.

My picks...

•Brian Dawkins
•Don Coryell
•Isaac Bruce
•John Lynch
•Kevin Mawae
•LaDainian Tomlinson
•Terrell Davis (I know he retired in his prime, but back to back Super Bowl victories, Super Bowl MVP, and leading rusher over 2000 yards 1998 season.)

Jerry did great things for the front office and financial life of the NFL, but you gotta be on the field or the sidelines to be in the HALL of FAME IMO, there should be a separate wing for guys like him.

Remember - only 5 can go in from the group of 15 finalists. The Senior and Contributor nominees are voted on separately.

I had forgotten that. Which changes my picks...

  • Brian Dawkins
  • Don Coryell
  • Kevin Mawae
  • LaDainian Tomlinson
  • Terrell Owens (I hate him but he has the numbers)
  • Jerry Jones

Which would move the Maras out... which I would disagree with.

I appreciate what Jerry did, but the Maras are totally different, they helped keep the NFL name and brand alive. Constant battles with the AFL, back before the merger, Jerry has been great for the NFL, but he wouldn't have got that chance without the Maras.

...and no. They are not totally different. You can't pick and choose which front office types belong and which ones don't.

I did say there should be a different wing for guys like him. Also, Jerry Jones cannot be compared to Tim Mara. Tim Mara was HUGE for the LIFE of the NFL. He brought Football to the New York market, and won battles against the many "startup" AFL, and other Football leagues of his day. He should have his own wing, not taking anything away from Jerry as I said "There should be a different wing for guys like him" he's HoF worthy just should be different halls for FO, Ownership etc etc.

Joe Jacoby and Don Coryell are the only 2 I would vote for.

I have to vote for Brian Dawkins. Despised him as a player but he was a great Safety. It's a shame Darren Woodson isn't being considered especially with Reed and Polamalu being no brainer 1st ballot entries when their turn comes. Woodson belongs.

But of course, Woody is all class. No surprise.

Won't change the minds of anyone who is set against him... but lays out the dynamics behind him getting in. And - he will get in.
