Michael Jordan full court speed

Aint no catching MJ on the break. MJ had the speed of a point guard, the top speed unmatched.

I never saw Michael Jordan play live because I wasn't born, so I will refrain from comparing any current player to him because Michael was clearly faster.

As for players that I can actually use on the Player Comparison Board because I actually saw them on Television, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, and LeBron James are 4 names that come to mind. TJ Ford was also a speedster in the open court.

Younger Lebron is quicker than both Rose and Westbrook, who in turn are not really in the same league as MJ here.

Yeah Jordan's still the fastest I've seen. Wade has had some comparable plays. Lebron of course is a blur full court. But good gracious, seeing Jordan just out sprint multiple defenders when he's dribbling and starting behind them is mind boggling.

Different rules for carry too, these are all basic top down dribbles. MJ also the only guy still to dunk from the ft line with a live dribble.

For my buck I'm taking John Wall. Easily the fastest guy I've ever seen on the court full sprint.

Yes agreed, insanely fast, however with time, myths about MJ arise such that he wasn't really an elite all time great athlete. In fact, MJ was a 1% NBA athlete all time AND had great fundamentals.

Um, what? I enjoyed the video and all that, but who has ever said that MJ wasn't an elite athlete? His ridiculously athletic play-style was a huge reason for why he was so popular.

I watched enough tape to know MJ is the 1% of athlete, 1% of basketball IQ, 1% basketball fundamental.

That's an insult to the Greek Freak, wouldn't you say?

Nah if Giannis was a little guy like Jordan he'd probably have to take all those extra dribbles to lumber down the court.

This is that guy from the crying meme who played for the Birmingham barons, right? He played basketball too?

Yeah, but he wasn't even that good at baseball. Dude couldn't even hit above the Mendoza line in AA baseball. What a scrub.

Young Devin Harris end to end was one of the fastest I've ever seen.

lol this guy was so fast, even after the first retirement. It's like no matter where he caught the ball or started dribbling, he'd just go into turbo mode and pull away from everyone within a second. I remember reading about some guy who knew some guy who played against MJ in the Jordan Dome while he was filming Space Jam, and he said MJ was the fastest player he'd ever seen n person. He said it he was fast in terms of raw speed, quickness and decision making. All of that, along with perfect fundamentals, made him impossible to guard. Insane

Yeah, who knows about all time, but he'd have to be right there. It was pretty notorious he didn't even have to have a step when he started. You could have the step and he'd still blow right by you in he open court. And that was with the ball while you were chasing without it. He could cover half the court in maybe 4 or 5 strides and fly in for a dunk from a step inside the free throw stripe.

MJ had a long stride that allowed him to cover a lot of ground in the full court. But of players I've seen, I'm still inclined to think that Randy Smith was faster in a full court foot race. Smith was definitely quicker, which helped him on defense and with off-ball movement on offense. Today you see someone like Curry or Klay who is constantly running circles on the court that even without breathtaking speed, it tires players out just trying to keep up with them. Smith was much the same way but he had blinding speed to go along with that endurance; no one could run with him. One day, when Smith (RIP) and MJ meet in heaven and decide to have a full court race, my money is on Mr. Smith.
