Orlando and Chicago blockbuster

Post#1 » by Airgordon00 » Fri Feb 3, 2017 6:19 pm

Bulls out: jimmy butler
Bulls in: evan Fournier, mario hezonja, 2017 first.

Magic out: evan Fournier, mario hezonja, 2017 first.
Magic in: jimmy butler

The Bulls get evan Fournier who compliments D wade better and allows some spacing on the floor for d wade to get to the rack. They take a flyer on a young kid in hezonja who might turn into to a good player someday. Then the icing on the cake in the 2017 first round pick that could get you a young stud who can get mentored by the great D wade.

The magic get a star player they have been looking for there entire rebuild. It might help convince ibaka to stay after this season and if not it will allow us to pursue some good free agents to come our young up and coming team.

Because Wade is a long term piece the Bulls are building around.

No thanks. If it was an offseason trade after the pick got locked in at 1 or 2 it'd be closer value, but still probably not the best offer they'd get. If it's midseason that pick is almost guaranteed to not be top 8 or 9 by the end of the season.

Welcome to RealGM!

Unfortunately I don't think this is quite there for Butler, especially since acquiring him now might further devalue that pick as Orlando gets better. The pieces you offer all have value, but they don't add up to enough to convince Chicago to let JB go.

This trade is rumored to be a "King's Ransom" offer from Chicago which Henny personally told season ticket holders in the recent luncheon.

That's certainly not a "Kings ransom". Its not even an offer for a regular all star.

Keep in mind: Butler is signed for 4 years as of right now, which is very unusual for someone who's rumored to be dealt, especially a star. So his value is pretty high. Also of note - if Butler is traded, Wade will be too, shortly after.

This falls well short of what the Bulls would expect. You could conceivably add Aaron Gordon and their '19 1st and they still might pass. But I'd wager the Magic would pass on that too

If your GM considers that to be a king's ransom for Jimmy Butler then there can't be any substantive discussions between the two teams, because it's objectively a very weak offer.

Only quoting again because I saw the post on the board here, and this on reddit:

Using a throwaway for this. I'm pretty pissed at whoever this realgm poster is. I went to one of these events (I believe there were 2 this year.) The Magic didn't charge anything for this event, all they asked is that the attendees not go post everything Hennigan said on social media.

Either this guy went to a different event than I did or he's making some stuff up, because some of those things Hennigan said at my event, and some of them he definitely did not. I'm not going to specify which ones.

The event itself is awesome. It's free, invitation only for season ticket holders who RSVP on a first-come first-serve basis. Not sure what portion of ticket holders get invites. Considering I have some of the cheapest nose-bleed seats this perk was pretty huge and might bump my decision on whether to renew for next year. It takes place in the Magic board room which overlooks the practice court at the Amway Center, and there was a practice going on while I was there. No cell phones allowed. No press obviously.

Thanks, haven't seen that yet.

I must agree with his sentiments in some regard about keeping this kinda stuff hush hush BUT I know from three separate people that don't know each other that are season ticket holders that went to the event and confirmed and stated that Hennigan said this in regards to Chicago's offer.

Again, this could be Hennigan trying to save face and give us fans some type of hope of a major potential deal going down. He did something very similar last year and almost confirmed that Blake Griffin was on his way to Orlando and we all know how that turned out...

I'm not sure about that.

Evan Fournier, a likely high lottery pick, and a recent high lottery pick is a hell of a start.

Think you're undervaluing Fournier here.

That said, it's not enough for Butler, but still.

Not even close i'd say

If you add Payton and the trade happens in the draft day with the pick in the top 4... maybe

But i feel boston can beat that with the 1st pick in the draft, brown and memphis pick

As many chances as possible to get a guy as good / better than Butler + cap space/expirings. Think about it - A top 3 pick has roughly 1/3 chances statistically to become a franchise player like Jimmy is right now. Odds are higher if this is the top pick, and about 20% if pick number 2 or 3.
This is why many Bulls fans (like me) are so adamant about getting Brown + both BKN picks if trading with Boston.

Which is why there will be no deal between Boston and Chicago.

I think the most the Celtics would offer for Butler is Smart, Brown and one Brooklyn 1st rounder.

Butler won't be moved because no one is going to overpay for him.

Definitely. Celtics fans for sure over value their back ups and picks that odds are wont come close to panning out as well as butler. Celtics are delusional. But so are the bulls FO.

Brown and both Nets picks should easily be done for butler. Both sides are idiots though

I would not give the Magic 2017 pick for anything. If we are in range to draft Josh Jackson, your getting a Jimmy Butler of the future right there.

Disagree. Too much.

Show me a star that was traded for a 3rd pick (Jaylen Brown), another Top 3 pick and another most likely Top 5 pick.

You can't because no one will pay that much. That would be a historic payment for an all-star.

yeah, but anyone talking to a room full of people, that were also allowed to bring a guest, has to know that it wont stay a secret. How do you keep a secret, you dont tell anyone.
