Bruce Fraser: Stephen Curry 'Catered To Whole Theme Of Pleasing' This Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue May 2, 2017 12:41 am

While Draymond Green led the Golden State Warriors' recruiting efforts for Kevin Durant, they had to reach out to Stephen Curry about getting involved. Curry flew from his basketball camp in Hawaii to join the Warriors in the Hamptons.

"I think Steph catered to the whole theme of pleasing," said assistant coach Bruce Fraser in a lengthy profile piece by Ethan Sherwood Strauss in ESPN The Magazine. "He wanted to please. He catered to the whole, took less for himself. The irony in this season so far is that we had to learn how to play with KD, had to learn how to play without him. And both of those were challenges."

Curry deferred to Durant on the floor and perhaps played his best basketball when Durant was injured.

Curry also skipped the Warriors' groundbreaking for the Chase Center with Durant taking his place.

"We had a day off, and KD stepped up and took my place," said Curry later about his absence.

Joe Lacob identifies more with Green than Curry with his outspoken nature.

"Draymond Green started off hard sell, and he was great," said Lacob of Green's recruiting efforts in a talk at his old venture capital firm. "He gave the heavy pitch, which no one else there would have done, except for me, because I'm basically the Draymond Green of the business side."

Lacob rarely praises Curry publicly and Strauss describes their relationship as cold.

Curry will be a free agent this offseason for the first time in his career.

Strauss now says Curry and Lacob's relationship is cold?

I don't know who he talks to anymore after saying Green **** up practices.

Strauss now just makes stuff up about how screwed up internally the Warriors are, like he knows anything internally of the Warriors. Fact is, he has been kicked out of the circle for a long time.

I am glad Strauss is fired. He has been writing made-up stories with his imaginary friends' as source for a year.

He quotes Fraser and Lacob for un-related stuff, then throw a shady line as "Lacob rarely praises Curry publicly and Strauss describes their relationship as cold."

This seems like fake news to me. Just trying to stir up drama where there is none.

The Warriors are on their way to a 3rd straight finals appearance, Curry is a 2 time MVP and 1st ballot HOF but yeah, his ego just can't handle Kevin Durant helping to possibly make the Warriors the greatest team to ever play. Makes sense!

If this is true then my respect for Steph went up 10 fold.

It makes sense to me. Steph never seemed like the sort of guy that would be actively trying to stab his teammates in the back and get them traded to bring in Durant. Same with Klay... he is only interested in his dog and smoke dope.... too stoned to care.

Lacob, Green and Iguodala though... they are the 3 of the biggest snakes in the grass in the league. I wouldn't turn my back on any of them for more than a second.

Will be interesting to see what happens if the Warriors win this year. Wouldn't surprise to see Steph leave if things are as icy with Lacob as it makes out. He has his 2 rings... still in his prime and with hometown calling in Charlotte working with his pops. If Steph goes to Charlotte it will make them a pretty good free agent destination as well.

On Klay and weed...I remember an interview 1-2 years ago when he said the league should ok weed for medical purposes but under NO circumstances WHATSOEVER should any player EVER be allowed to smoke recreationally. He was on national television basically calling people sinners if they smoked. If he's a pothead please let me know, what a virtue signaling prick. I'm sure his dad never snorted coke before games either.

Beautiful thanks man...any chance you can find that abc/espn interview where he associated smoking weed with Satan? (Again this was his response to the league looking into medical marijuana). Nevertheless thanks
