Kevin Durant vs Dwyane Wade

Post#1 » by Narigo » Wed May 17, 2017 3:44 am

For those you dont know, Durant has more win shares for his career than Dwyane Wade.

Do you think Durant has a case over Wade now or is it currently still out of reach for the time being?

I think Wade v Durant all-time is at least debatable. Don't see a big gap between peaks, Durant's prime longevity is already close to Wade's and Wade hasn't added that much career value over the last few seasons.

Both are probably in my 25-35 Range. Wade has the higher peak and Durants prime is only slightly better.

Wade still has a significant lead in VORP in both the regular and post season, as well as playoff win shares.

I don't even think this is close. This is Wade. The only way the gap can be closed is Wade's longevity/health issues, but Wade at his prime/peak outstrips Durant when it matters most- the postseason. Wade carried a franchise to a championship. I don't think Durant will ever be able to claim this.

Wade for now. Durant at the end of his career, he is most likely going to have a longer career/prime unless injuries hits him hard. Wade has the edge on Peak year but 14 Durant is up there.

I value peak more than prime and longivity. So for now it's Wade, but if KD continues to produce at this level for another 2-3 season it will be hard to not put him over Wade. And it's not like there's a huge gap between their peaks.

After it is all said and done I think the Durant vs. Dirk comparison is going to be an interesting debate.

Wade led a team to championship. That's enough for me

If you're referring to the fact that Wade won it "alone," c'mon man, Shaq was no bum in 2006.

If you're referring to the fact that KD hasn't won a championship yet, well that's almost certainly going to change either this year or next year.

Of course Wade didn't win it alone, but he was the main reason they won. KD also happens to need three more all-stars to win

One of the hidden secrets is that KD actually played pretty well in the 2012 finals, at times careless with the ball but overall played pretty darn well. Westbrook and Harden played poorly.

Durant 30 ppg on 55% shooting & 40% from three.

Westbrook and Harden came up small in that series.

I'm not arguing Durant is a bad player. In fact, I think he may be more skilled than Wade. But Wade's legacy is much more greater than Durant's, because of those championships

The only chance Durant could have surpassed Wade was bringing a championchip to oklahoma. The rings he could win with golden state are even less valuable (in terms of individual carreer achievement) than Wades 2013 ring. Durant will never have a 2006.

Im not even sure he wins 3 rings with GS. This year is 50-50 with Lebron playing out if his mind, next year i can see the spurs beating them with an even better Kawhi and another max player (hopefully CP3). And after that, the Towns Timberwolfes era should begin.

I'd still rate Wade comfortably higher, but KD probably passes him eventually on the basis of sheer longevity.

Not to mention Bucks and Celtics from East. KD doesn't have many years to win

If you make that argument (which I'm open to), then only 1 of Wade's rings is valuable. And none of LeBron's rings are valuable.

Not quite yet for Durant who has a softness/come up small issue holding him back while Wade repeatedly stepped up on the biggest stages, but before its all said and done I think KD will end up higher, and likely is going to have more prime years too.

Durant's all-time talent is not really debatable, but I begin to squirm whenever a guy who isn't physical and doesn't create at an elite level for his position starts nudging around the Top 20. Top 20 guys should be dominant beasts who flat take care of all necessary business themselves, not guys catching somebody else's passes and staying outside the physical fray.

They are still valuable but not as much as 06. He was still the second best player in 12&13 tho and played with 2 other all stars. Durant has 3 all stars, and a championchip and 73 win team without him. Not exactly the same. Replace Durant with my grandma and the warriors still might win.
