I feel like this offseason is a pivotal point for the Lakers: I hope we make the right moves, and with Rob, Magic and Luke on board alongside the young core, I'd say so far so good.

And although we're not completely out of the mud yet, I feel like we've already turned a corner.

That said, I started this thread to look back at the grim ol' days and make light of the past with a big sigh of relief.

80% of the time it was Pau and Odom because BYNUM WAS ALWAYS FREAKING HURT.

Also between them, that front court defense.

Thankfully the perimeter defense of Kobe and Ariza/Metta was enough to make up for it

Eh, Pau was actually a competent defender before like '12. Long and agile. He just aged hard and was left on many islands near the end. Odom also was pretty good at times. The front court D really just got bad at the end when Kobe and Metta weren't doing them any favors and they were left to fend for themselves.
