Paul George
Now that Paul George's agent has said what he said, would trading MINN's pick for George be good enough now?

Yeah, this was known before the draft for awhile now. LAL was said to be offering Clarkson, Randall pick #28. Pacers declined.

Re: Paul George
I don't know that the Minny pick alone would get it done.
...but it's a start.
I'd include Bembry, the CLE pick and other second tier assets.
(Man, how are we so bereft of young prospects to dangle in trade? Even Bebe or Edy would be of some use in putting a trade package together at this point.)
I'd have to think Indy eventually succumbs and gives up PG to BOS or HOU for a middling package.
NOTE: What a world we live in that expiring Serge Ibaka might garner more in trade than expiring Paul George.

Re: Paul George
what would PG do for the Hawks on a one year loan? Get us to the playoffs..we been in the playoffs for the last 10 years already.. He is still likely gonna go to the Lakers on free agency once his contract expires and other teams have more assets to get him. So he wont come cheap enough since competition from Cleveland, Boston, etc is high. Id say no need to waste efforts on him the Minnesota pick is not enough. We need someone who we can build on and eventually get a championship contender. Not a one year loan to get us a better record and then get mad when he goes to LA as he already promised.

Re: Paul George
I know Budz offered the Pacers four 1st round picks for PG a few months ago, we are kind of lucky that the Pacers turned down that trade, which looking at it now, would have been a steal for them.

Re: Paul George
It's one thing trading for a player with one year left with at least a chance to resign him, but trading for a guy who only wants to go to 1 team is a pass for me.

This is 100% correct. But, I'd still strongly consider it. We've needed a star for years, and P George is still a top 20 player.
We feature things that Indy (and even LAL) do not:
Maybe a good season playing for a real city (sorry, Nap-Town), under an established young coach, for a Championship winning GM in a wide open season convinces him that staying East is an easier path.
It's a longshot. But what do we have to lose at this point?
I wouldn't move Dennis, Taurean or Collins to get him. But everyone else would be tradable for a young superstar in his prime.
Hell...P George on hand might convince another top Free Agent to consider us. Maybe even get Millsap to come back next season.
A core made up of:
Millsap
P George
Dennis
makes us a top 3 team in the East next year.
It's a gamble. But it's a low cost one.
Big picture: Does it really matter if we make this trade and kick off the rebuild a year later than expected?

Can't agree on this part. 2nd round picks have more value than them at this juncture.
As far as PG13 goes, we're super longshots of landing him, and even then, I doubt he wants to stay in Atlanta. We're no better than Indy.

Oh.
Just for clarity...when exactly did it happen?
Since we traded Dwight away this summer?
When Horford and Teague left last summer?
When DeMarre left summer 2015?

Re: Paul George
When we had Sap, THJ, and Howard along with Dennis, we were in a much better position than the Pacers to add PG13 and become a legit team. The Pacers with PG13 never had a better record the past 3 years.
