We are in need of wings, and I don't see a more available wing out there at the moment. There is some question about whether or not he's really worth the 24 million dollar max contract he can command this free agency, but I also saw talk last year that he might be the piece that the Pistons should try to build around rather than Drummond. If a bad team, someone like the Nets, offers him the full max then I expect him to take it, but if there is some doubt that he is really worth that entire max contract, we have, what, around 22-23 million? Would that be enough to lure him here?
He's more of a 2 than a 3, though, so that might be an issue, but it would leave us with a decent bit of talent on the wings in the wake of Paul's departure, even if it's a bit on the short side.

Re: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
I'd love to get him. He fits very well in our roster, very good defender, good shooter. I wish he could help more on the defensive rebounds, though. I don't know how much money he'll get now he's unrestricted, but I think 15M a year is a good offer for both sides. A little overpaid, but that's how it works nowadays.
What worries me is the defensive rebounds. Unless Turner developed a lot on boxing out and working on the rebounds in this summer, we don't have great rebounders. Thad is an average rebounder, too, don't know about Sabonis, but he doesn't seem the most athletic guy...I think it could be a big problem for us into the season. So maybe we should target a wing who can help on this aspect more than Kentavious, although I really like the others things he could add to this squad.

Re: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Detroit renounced him presumably because they needed cap room. At presser Kevin said roster incomplete and wants more shooting. Still I'm hoping for a SF.

I think he's a solid player. Concerned about his payday though.

Jake Fischer: Pistons’ highest offer to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was 5 years, $80 million, per source. Salary “wasn’t even close” to what KCP is seeking
He's looking for a near max deal. I wouldn't touch on him with a max contract.

Looks like we got Bojan at that price for two years.

My quoted message predated signing Bogdanovich. We found a cheaper option.
