Tatum is the best rookie I have ever seen

Post#1 » by bastillon » Sun Jul 9, 2017 1:38 pm

Remember back in the day I made the thread titled "James Harden is a superstar". It was in 2012 when he was still coming off the bench. People laughed at my face. You can look that up. Nowadays nobody is contesting that statement anymore.

Jayson Tatum is going to be a superstar. He is already the most NBA ready rookie I have seen in a long time. He's 6'8, sneaky athletic, has 3 pt range, incredible shot making ability in isolation, he can drive, he can pull up from midrange, he has back to the basket game, he's an excellent defensive rebounder, is gonna be solid defender (rookies are never quite good), he is a willing passer and he knows his role on the team. That guy doesn't have a glaring weakness in his game and he is a rookie.

I'm so hyped right now, the Celtics are back!

Tatum might be a superstar someday, way too early to say either way, but he's not even close to the best rookie I've seen.
These would be Shaq or Timmy.

How's that Jeremy Lin bandwagon working out for you btw?
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Jayson Tatum is going to be a superstar.

Do you think being on the Celtics will help or hinder his development?

Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown both play the same position.

IMO , Harden isn't a superstar.

You can't win a title with him as the #1 option...

Tatum looks good but it's just summer league. We've seen rookies struggle after killing it in summer league.

So by that you only believe there are two superstars in the NBA currently?

As for Tatum... Eh, I don't like his offensive game really. He throws up a ton of bad shots, and isn't a great outside shooter. Defensively he's kind of in an awkward position currently but just based on his physical ability he has potential on that end.

Not to mention he's basically going to be their 3rd string SF/SG... And probably won't get to do much ball handling.

Duncan was middle age his rookie season, so I think he can be excluded.

Big fan of him. Silky smooth athlete and really easy to root for. Had him as the 3rd best prospect in this class after Smith and Jackson. He's got some Kobe to his mid-range game.

I remember you were not high on Fultz - any impressions after his first few games?

Yes you can. In today's game, you have in Harden as good of an offense creator as there is or has been. His defense holds him back, but his defense in these last playoffs was actually decent. Now, the fact that there's a GOAT team ahead of him and another team that has a GOAT player doesn't means he might find it difficult to win right now, but he's better than players who have won titles as number 1 options in the past.

Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown both play the same position.

You can technically play them on the court at the same time, Brown at the 2, Tatum at the 3, and Hayward at the 4.

Just looking at your sig...LeBron/Kawhi/Durant/Kg/DRob or LeBron/Kawhi/Pippen/Durant/KG...good lord.

Thanks, yes I've spent years thinking on it. For 2017 and before I think that is the best roster you can come up with. Of course new players come into the league but following my formula you should look for players 6' 8" and above with good defensive ability. An important goal is to also make other teams adapt to your team and not the other way around.
