Wisconsin Herd Thread
Now that the initial three games of summer league are completed, who are the guys you want to see on the Herd this season? We already have Koenig and Moore.
I would like to sign guys like Jamil Wilson, Deonte Burton, Vander Blue, JP Tokoto, and Alec Brown and get the rights to Duje Dukan for a connection to Wisconsin, but they might be able to get paid more playing overseas.
The guys from our summer league I would want to keep would be Reggie Upshaw, Stephen Zimmerman, and JeQuan Lewis
Some guys with experience in the league who could be had and I would like to pursue would be Ryan Kelly, James Young, Ray McCallum, Henry Sims, RJ Hunter, Markel Brown, and Jabari Brown.
Some other guys with G-League experience who I would like to pursue would be Vincent Hunter, Sir'Dominic Pointer, Brandon Ashley, Matt Costello, and Travis Lesile.
I would also like to see us try and get Isaiah Briscoe and Kobi Simmons on the team. They are guys who I believe that in better situations would have really shined.
Thoughts? Who are guys you want to see on the Herd this year?
Edit* I would also want Travis Trice and Tim Kempton. Forgot about those guys!

Re: Wisconsin Herd Roster
Going to be pretty hard getting good talent on the G-League team. 2 training camp spots. 0-1 actual roster spots for guys to fight for. No 2-ways left to dangle. Not sure who is going to want to come into training camp for us.

What's Brian Butch up to these days?
Last time I checked, he was tearing up Japan!

Can we still cut our two 2-way guys and sign different ones?

Peter Jok Pelicans SL team (did he sign a 2way?)
Brady Heslip from Bulls SL team
I would give Houston, our '18 second to get Hartenstein (they are planning to stash him in Europe)

Most of the guys listed will go play overseas instead of going to the GLeague. The pay is substantially better.

No thanks. There are better players they could actually try to develop. I don't want to turn it into a showcase for former local players in order to sell tickets. I fear that this was the main reason Koenig got that two-way contract.

Kind of assuming this is more of a joke since our two guys have been ass (tho did you see Koenig raining 3s last night???), but if not, yes you can cut them any time.
75k guaranteed still on the books, but that's chump change.

Re: Wisconsin Herd Roster
Of the guys mentioned, I think Burton and Tokoto would be worth bringing in if possible.
My Syracuse plug would be Andrew White. Probably never makes it to the NBA, but he's a lethal shooter with a pretty strong frame. He's on the old side, but he can do a lot of the things Tony Snell does IMO. I think Snell would be his best case scenario.

I think Koenig looks fine, but Jaylen Moore as the second guy doesn't make much sense. He hasn't shown anything.

Gery mentions that Broghammer might be a candidate to be head coach.

Isn't too shocking as some organizations try to make the G-League team into a scheme replica of the NBA squad. Curious to know if there are any really intriguing applicants, but if Broghammer is already coaching the Summer League team, his ascension up to Oshkosh seems inevitable.
Any worries about players not gelling under the direction of a 26 year-old?

There are a very limited amount of high paying slots for American players, and the G League has call up potential that Europe does not. A single 10 day is going to be ~ $48k this year.

I suppose if Lawrence Frank can go from team student manager of the Marquette team to coaching the Nets anything is possible. Although Frank's results with the Nets and Pistons weren't very good.

If they need to play the local angle, why not sign Milwaukeeans Dwight Buycks & Jamil Wilson? Both have a much better shot at ever sniffing a meaningful NBA minute. Or are they not the right kind of local?

I think the Herd is a great opportunity for the astute among our posters to get a job in pro ball. Any front office type job that you can ascend from. DO IT!

I don't think local Milwaukee guys will make any difference up there. Badgers maybe but no one else.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
