If Hansbrough and Morrison are on this list, then Jimmer Fredette has to be on there too. They all carried their teams with Jimmer at BYU having probably much lesser players on the team and yet they made it to the final 8. He out performed against Kawhi Leonard when they played against each other. Too bad Jimmer never had a real chance in NBA. The way he dominated the D League and China's CBA, he should at least have a backup PG role or the 6th man in NBA. If Calderon is still playing with that kind of defense, Jimmer should at least get a spot at the 3rd guard. He scored over 30 points against Houston when his Shanghai Sharks played against Houston in preseason. So it is not like he can't score against NBA defenders. So why he didn't get any chance to play in NBA ?

The late 70s 80s probably the best college players since most played 3-4 seasons. It’s hard to say these one and dones were the best simply cause a 4 year started in Patrick Ewing was simply better than one and one Carmelo Anthony. Even though Carmelo was rapidly improving in his only year.

3-4 year guys like Sampson, Ewing, Akeem, David Robinson, Tim Duncan were simply better college players than any one and done 18-19 year old. It’s plan fact.

Of course going earlier. Alcindor, Walton were better as well.

Kareem or Walton. Among non centers, I'd have to go with Jimmy Walker.

Timeframe caveat: The first live games I ever really remember watching was March Madness 1987. David Robinson, I think I watched 3 of his games and I was hooked.

Grant Hill, Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley, David Robinson, Larry Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Shane Battier, Tim Duncan, Derrick Coleman, Kenny Anderson, Billy Owens, Dikembe Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning, Allen Iverson, Jim Jackson, Hubert Davis, Chris Webber, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd, Glenn Robinson, Michael Finley, Jerry Stackhouse, Paul Pierce, Antawn Jamison, Baron Davis, Andre Miller (Utah), Keith Van Horn, Lamar Odom, Voshon Leonard, Carmelo Anthony...

Then didn't watch as much bball for awhile and it was mostly 1-and-done so you didn't get as many seasoned players aka "great" players IMO, very talented tho...I will list players who were still great even as freshman while skipping very talented but not great at that point (e.g. Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns, Cousins, etc)...

Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Steph Curry, Blake Griffin, Emeka Okafor, Ray Allen, Buddy Hield.

Best I would probably say Shane Battier or Grant Hill. Just incredibly complete players, so much poise, so smart, and just complete all-around game. Shaquille O'Neal was just shocking for me. To see a human that big, spin, move, run, and jump like that. It was mind-blowing it could even be possible. I say that even having seen Zion Williamson. Shaq still on a whole other "shock" level for me.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar (Lew Alcindor). In 1967, SI put him on the cover of their college basketball preview and put out the question is there any team that can hope to challenge UCLA with him at center.

Agreed. Came to the thread to say him. the guy was on another planet than everyone else. That Maryland comeback where he dropped 10 points in like 90 seconds...simply unbelievable

None of the recent guys count. You can't compare frosh to seniors.

I am old enough to have seen Alcindor, Maravich, and Ewing live. I was also in the stands when Bill Bradley went for 56 in the NCAA consolation game.

But hands down, the best college player I ever saw was Bill Walton.

Best I watched was probably Laettner. His mixture of length, shooting and bb iq was so much more than any college team could handle back then. If we are just listing guys one guy who I haven't seen mentioned who should be is Bird.

Kemba. His run that year was insane. He was cooking from the beginning of the year.

Zion was nasty as well

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

I'm going with a couple homer picks. A lot of great players have come through Carolina since I was a kid. I would have to go with Michael Jordan and James Worthy.

It's hard to call one name. Probably J.J. Redick or Anthony Davis.

A guy I'll mention who is way up there for me is Larry Johnson. He was like a man among boys back then.
