Post#1 » by wichmae » Sat Aug 12, 2017 9:57 pm

So dumb. No clue what we gave up. He is FA at end of year and owed over 3 mil remaining for rest of season.

I mean he's good and he always seemed to kill us as a Pirate, but this seems kinda pointless.

He's hardly playing any better than what we've got since the break. Plus a rental. Plus we suck now. Stupid.

Current reports say it's Walker and Cash for a PTNBL. So we can withhold our horror until that player is named.

Still holding out hope that they can right the ship I suppose. I don't give a **** about the money. As long as they don't give up any real potential it's a whole lot of meh

Any chance Villar is getting DFA'd?

Someone will have to be DFA'd so with giving up a later named prospect we also will lose probably Sogard. He has an option remaining but has over 5 years of service time and can decline any MiLB assignment. Meaning he's probably going to be DFA'd. On top of that Walker has been injured and not very good overall. Just a dumb move to make now.

so you believe Sogard and a random minor leaguer are more important to the Brewers future than a chance at a possible playoff spot this season?

Neil Walker doenst assure you anything. In fact he barely provides much more than what you already have.

Why are you assuming Sogard? Why not Villar, Drake or Torres?

Walkers 9 years of being signifcantly better than Sogard make it better than what they have.

They have to clear a 40 spot as well and all year theve been pen heavy. Dont think they'll change from that strategy. Its possible they DFA Torres but theres no way they DFA Villar.

By that stance Pujols should be our #1 target then. Players regress with age. Especially constantly injured players. Fact is at this stage in his career he's marginally better than what we already have. Neil Walker is not taking you to the WS

Sogard and Villar are both in the lineup with Walker today. Someone else is being moved.

And your Pujols statement is completely irrelevant to this discussion.
