2018 NBA Draft Thread

Post#1 » by Bakuto » Sat Jan 6, 2018 1:14 am

Here's hoping the team trades for good picks (I know they won't) ... Embiid said Trust the Process and I wanted to laugh but he's probably right judging by tonight's game.

#dropforDeAndre
#dreadfulforDoncic
#playpoorlyforPorter
#bebadforBagley
#tankforTrae

This thread was inevitable. Let's get the discussion going.

I would actually chop off a leg and an arm if it meant Pistons got Ayton.

We will get the 14th-17th pick and draft someone who will spend the next 5 years on the bench.

Come next week and we'll be 9th or 10th in Eastern Conference.

It's time to make a decision.

You never know. This wouldn't be bad....though it would blow for the Suns.

http://www.tankathon.com/

Were currently 14th in the lotto. The sixers have been playing amazing against some very good teams lately. Doubt we catch them, their a young super talented team hitting their stride. They have the number 1 pick returning sometime as well.

The hornets have been playing well lately. I got the nuggs passing us up in the standings as well. Can we get a worse record then the knicks? Maybe, Hardaway jr is just now back so hopefully they get some wins.

So we can easily get a top 10 pick with the current roster. Seems like were going to need to unload some players to get further up the lotto. I could see teams like the bulls and Jazz hitting some winning streaks with Gobert back and Lavine getting back. So maybe top 8 with some luck? Just gotta hope SVG doesnt fire off are draft pick to try to chase the 8 seed when we should be trying to lose games.

So basically say we get that 8 pick and dont get the lucky lotto ball. Right now this draft at the top has Doncic,Young,Bagley,Ayton,Bamba,Porter JrJaren Jackson JrSexton. So were looking at Sexton or one of the two Bridges possibly if we get in that 8-10 range. Also you figure late risers etc.

Heres a mock http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2753763-2018-nba-mock-draft-would-deandre-ayton-trae-young-or-luka-doncic-go-no-1 Not saying its the best mock just one i found that was recent.

Not bad but man would it be nice to at least get a chance at Jaren Jackson jr. He'd be a awesome fit next to Drummond. He can protect the rim and shoot he 3. Just got to hope SVG realizes were in a tank spot and not a chase the 8 seed spot currently. Who knows maybe we can get even higher with good moves to tank.

I get ina tank mood every year around this time but something about a 8th seed vs Boston matchup is intriguing.

I really like Jaren Jackson though, two way big that is learning to shoot the outside shot.

Drummond is a celtics killer.

Yeah, having a guy like Jackson would literally be the dream big next to Drummond. I wouldnt be surprised if he rises up higher in the draft with his skillset though. Bamba wouldnt be as good of a fit so not as excited about him. MPjr is like a Tobias clone with more upside but i think Jackson would be the best fit of those guys.

If we somehow could land Trae Young that would be amazing. A Young/Kennard backcourt would just rain 3s. Man i need to quit dreaming!

The chance of SVG tanking is about 0.0%. We might well miss the playoffs, but it won't be on purpose.

It's so depressing to already think about next season and not have much hope for a top pick.

Luke is the only player really developing on the team at this point where his growth can spark hope.

I hope something happens with a trade to cause excitement for the rest of the season like when Tobias was acquired.

It just seems like the Pistons are on a path to nowhere.

I think SVG cashes in this year, He's been reluctant to trade first rounders so far. But he's getting nowhere in the draft and stuck in neutral where he needs to boost the roster to tank or playoffs. I see a big trade coming with Kemba more than likely.

Ayton will be much better than Andre imo I wish we could get a pick to land him or Porter or Doncic or Trae

Thats the thing on average Drummond will be better then the average outcome of Doncic/Young/Bagley/Ayton/MPJR/Bamba/Jackson jr. The thing is a couple of these guys have top 10 nba player ITL potential which Drummond just will never be. Drummond seems to be cementing himself as a top 20 player which is good obv but we need more. I think Doncic esp has top 10 all time player potential. You dont win in this current league without having top 10 ITL players.

We need to take some risks to actually get a shot at getting some players that have that upside. We've been in the same spot for way to long. Problem is nothing we've got entices other teams to give up big value. Maybe we could get one medium high lotto pick for Drummond but its not like his value is going to net us the hawks pick or something. I think the nets pick from the cavs is a MAYBE with some matching salarys.

Mikal Bridges should be a realistic target. Can backup Kennard for now and just replace Bradley with better defense in my opinion.

Looking at the standings were not far off from getting a pick inside the top 10. Didn't realize all the teams in the top 10 were playing so competitive
