Am I reading that right? Lyles is our best defender? He's our best 3 pt shooter too? He's also one of our best drivers. Well, I'm not an NBA genius but it just seems like maybe, he ought to be playing more minutes.

Yeah I have no clue why Plumlee starts over Lyles. Jokic and Murray are allowing their opponents to shoot 8% higher each game which really hurts the Nuggets because those two are very inconsistent offensively and if they aren't scoring 20pt a night they are hurting their team. Harris/Chandler offset some of Jokic/Murray's poor defense but overall the starting lineup is still below average defensively. If you throw Lyles in the starting lineup your defense overall should be closer to average and your offense becomes even better (above average offense and average defense). I know Murray is a capable defender (he guarded Klay Thompson very well) but he only seems to play D when he wants too.

If Lyles starts, who plays in the second unit? Plumlee/Faried is a really bad combo.

Since when does Malone worry about that? He yanks Barton into the starting lineup all the time and he's been our #1 scorer off the bench. Now Lyles is stepping it up.

How about Jokic-Faried-Chandler-Harris-Murray
with Plumlee-Lyles-Barton-Beasley?

That certainly doesn't help our defense but then again, our defense isn't too great no matter who's playing.

Harris-Lyles-Beasley seem to be our best defenders (not counting Craig, unfortunately).

That’s the best alternative. I’m not sure it’s better than staring Plumlee but Faried might help jumpstart our sluggish offense.

I would actually go further than that and replace Chandler with Craig in the starting lineup and bring Chandler off the bench for 20-25 minutes a game.

I'd love to do that but Malone is wasting his 45 days. Are they going to send him back to the G-League? I half expected to see him in yesterday's Skyforce game.
