Are you guys now Cavs fans as well?

Post#1 » by blazeyo » Mon Feb 12, 2018 8:46 pm

Hello!

Everywhere I go, Everywhere on the internet I see how supportive Lakers fans are of Clarkson and Nance, how happy they are for them for this new opportunity, how much they love them and want them to succeed on the Cavs.
This is very new to me, as I don't normally see this kinda of reaction out of fanbases. They are unsupportive when players get traded and try to find negatives in their game and the overall experience with the players on the team, but in this case it's the complete opposite. There is not one person that finds a bad thing to say about these two players.

I know when when the Celtics traded Isaiah they started to bash his personality, his demeanor, his game even and how better Kyrie is... and all that, when just before the trades almost all of them loved him to death.

So are you guys going to support the Cavs now through Nance and Clarkson? I was thinking about it, and really, it's not such a bad idea to have a team that you can find a reason to support while you are out of the playoffs picture for the time being while you still have you own promising team to look for and watch grow organically in the meanwhile.

I was really impressed with your fanbase reaction and kind words. So what are your thoughts?

It's different when you draft the players, they play their hearts out, then they get traded. i can only say great things about Nance and Clarkson. But no i am not a cavs fan. Nothing would make me happier than for them to lose every game the rest of this season since it would convey a better first round pick for us. I hope they start having success AFTER this season, but not this season. I place a greater priority on the current lakers squad.

The boston analogy is different. Isiah got traded because he would have refused to stay on a discount playing off the bench. That's why Boston fans turned on him. Clarkson literally accepted that exact role so there is no reason to dislike anything about anything he's ever done for us.

Obviously you want the Cavs to lose every regular season game. But in the playoffs wouldn't you cheer for them? Atleast until you get back there.

I also got a few questions if I may. Nance is going to play the backup 5 for them, could you guys please educate me about him and how does he fit as a backup 5 compared to a 4, his natural position? Do you think he is going to develop an outside shot in due time? How do you think he is going to help the Cavs on both ends of the floor?

Do you think the Cavs overpaid for Clarkson and Nance by adding a 1st round pick as it was known around the league at the time that Magic had to add a 1st round pick in order to free up cap space in order to sign two max contracts? Obviously both of them are going to outplay that pick for the Cavs, but it seems like an overpay on paper considering that this draft is stacked.

Thank you guys.

I'll cheer for Nance and Clarkson in the playoffs for sure but in the regular season I hope you end up with the 8th seed.

Clarkson is as underrated as Nance is overrated so I don't think its that much of an overpay value wise. Clarkson's efficiency looks poor because he had to take some tough shots on an offensively challenged team without many shot creators apart from a rookie and a sophomore.

Nance on the other hand has great advanced metrics because he does the very simple things consistently well and never takes on things that suggest he might expand his game. You basically have to take his cat hostage to force him to take an open jumper. His entire tao revolves around "what can I do at this moment to make the game easier for my teammates?". What you see is what you get with him.

You could make an argument that Cavs could have used the Lakers desperation to not give up an asset but the team as a whole was pressed for improvements in short time and if you take the overall return for the day across all trades, I think they came out even.

Never understood why Clarkson was such a fan favorite. Only reason he was able to put up numbers was due to the plentiful opportunities he's gotten when the team was an utter talent depleted mess during the crippled Kobe, Cupkake, and ShortBuss era.

Much like Luke Walton, i loved him during his 2nd round dirt cheap rookie contract, but once they got overpaid, they became negative assets (remember how Luke was unceremoniously dumped). The magnificent moron duo of Cupkake and ShortBuss decided to give Clarkson a deal that no one else in FA seemed to have been offering, brilliant bidding against themselves for a RFA.

LNJ is in the same boat, love him while he's on a rookie deal, would prolly still love him if he were resigned to a <6mil a year deal, but past that, my opinion of him will sour.

it was a miracle the Lakers got the package that they got.

But hey, i've no ill will towards em (if a moron offers u free money u take it), i hope they do well. I hope the Cavs suck so the pick we get back is good. And i'm ecstatic that our cap situation is now way more flexible that even if we whiff on our 2 max FA plans we can get some good value deals due to contenders not having cap space to improve. JC at 12.5m imho is not good value (8m like what Lou Will got is basically where i value him).

Honestly... A little... Not so much because of Clarkson and Nance... They're good players and all but I wasn't a super big fan...

More because of the story... That team looked like ass this season, even when they were winning... Just not fun basketball... But what they have now is pretty fun to watch... It's a lot like what we have going on but with better talent.

So, yeah, if they're on, I might watch a few minutes... Maybe more if we don't get back to playing the right way pretty quick.

They're pretty much the only legit contender that doesn't turn my stomach at this point.

No.

But we drafted those boys and will always root for them because they aren't just good players they are good guys too which is why they get so much love.

Fan? No.

Am I going to be rooting for them in the playoffs? Absolutely.

You either loved or hated Clark. Whatever your feelings were, you have to admit he was a bright spot during a lot of dark days here.

Larry flat out has great energy. Probably my favorite Laker since Turiaf.

So yes, GL to them.

Cavs fan because a couple role players got traded there? They were solid young players but nothing more.

Clarkson is a poor mans Lou Williams with worse defense while Nance is a decent energy big that you can find on most rotations in the league.

I think most Lakers fans are more excited of getting a former all star who was on the all nba team 9 months ago and still under 30. Not to mention the first round draft pick.

I wish JC and Nance all the best. They are great guys and I'm rooting for them. Cleveland is an awesome spot for both of them.

I wish you guys the best too, but please lose games so that the pick gets better and better! ;)

Clarkson certainly came good for a second rounder. Coulda passed more/dribbled less....but I think he's a fine player. It will do him good to join a team with such an obvious stud bull on the floor. He'll do less dribbling I think. We'll see.

Like Nance a ton. Great guy to have on your team. Lacks the talent, or the selfishness (not sure what it is) to take that next level. Seems to have 3 or 4 little nagging injuries each year.

I don't think either will be sorely missed, tbh. Much like I doubt your 24thish pick will be sorely missed by you guys.

Have to be honest here....I don't care too much about the playoffs right now. If someone can beat GS, that would be interesting.
