Get Milwaukee it's 3rd star

Post#1 » by nmeurett » Mon Mar 5, 2018 3:23 pm

So I think the Bucks will resign Jabari Parker this off-season. I love Middleton and think Bledsoe is the most talented pg we have had in awhile but something does not seem to work with them. Wondering what Milwaukee could get for a package of Middleton or Bledsoe + Brogdon or Middleton and Bledsoe. I think our targets should be Kemba Walker, Kevin Love, Hassan Whiteside, Paul George (S&T), Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, John Wall. Wouldn't mind getting you players with upside either but I think Giannis is in win now mode so getting that 3rd star is important.

I think Wall or Love would be good and somewhat attainable targets for their second star.

I mean who wouldn't want to consolidate lesser pieces into a star player?

For the Blazers, Damian at least is way out of your league. McCollum is maybe more reasonable but I think our GM loves having two electric guards who can get red hot any minute as we're basically never completely out of a game. I think to get McCollum you would have to significantly overpay. How are you gonna tell Damian we traded his best friend and the second best player for a couple lesser players? For a guy with the kind of clout to go to the owner directly, you have to win that trade bigly. If he was still a little bitter about the Barton trade, you can only imagine how he would feel about a McCollum trade that did not give instant and significant results.

I like the Bucks roster on paper but it hasn't translated to wins. They don't attempt or make a lot of 3s which limits their offensive upside and they are worst rebounding team in the league. They also have major financial decisions pending with Parker's contract coming up and Bledsoe, Brogdon and Middleton the year after so I think they should be targeting a big move.

I'm not sure how well a point guard like Wall would fit with Giannis and he has a very large contract but I think if Wizards don't look good after he returns the Bucks could put a competitive offer in for him especially considering the Wizards timeline. Kemba would be a little better fit but I'd expect the Hornets would be looking for a package with younger players/ draft picks.

I don't like the fit of Kevin Love since with Parker and Giannis at the forward slots he'd have to play most of his minutes at center. He would help two of the Bucks bigger weaknesses in shooting and rebounding but would open up holes defensively. Additionally, if Cavs resign Lebron I think Middleton would be a compelling 3 and D piece for them.

Hassan Whiteside would be a much needed upgrade for Bucks weakest position but the benefit has to be weighed against what they have to give up to get him especially with his sizable contract. George would be great if he wanted to come to Milwaukee but not sure it would be on the list of places he'd be willing to go on S&T. Not sure I see Blazers breaking up their backcourt but McCollum would be a great scoring option who would fit well with Giannis.

I don't see any clear move for Bucks to get a star so the improvements will likely need to come internally via a new coach and healthy Parker. They have the talent to be a better team than they've been.

They need shooting. They can try and go for Paul George this offseason, even though the chances of his signing with the Bucks is extremely low.

Maybe CJ Mccollum?

Bledsoe and Middleton for Wall and Morris?

I think Washington would jump all over that.

Wall
Snell
Jabari
Giannis
Henson or small ball Morris

Bledsoe
Beal
Middleton
Porter
Gortat

I also like Love/Hill for Middleton/Delly/Bledsoe

That said, it would have to include Lebron resigning and agreeing to play 4 full time.

Love
Giannis
Jabari
Snell
Hill

Not sure how the fit would be with Love/Giannis/Jabari but if they could co-exist and stay healthy it might look good. Hill seems like the perfect pg for a Giannis led team.

TT/Nance
Lebron/Green
Middleton/Korver/Osman
Hood/Clarkson/Smith
Bledsoe/Clarkson/Delly

Lebron would be better off with Middleton running on the wing. The defense should improve a lot which is their biggest weakness.

I'd love CJ at the Bucks. Would want some slight value kicked back though if we're giving up Bledsoe & Middleton.

I'd definately look at that if Wall would waive his trade kicker. With that, he's probably going to make too much.

I wouldn't give up both Bledsoe and Middleton for Love though.

The Bucks don’t even have a 2nd star and you’re talking about getting a 3rd star.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Darn, beat me to it. Was going to ask who the second star was.

The problem is Getting CJ to the Bucks, they just don't have the assets to pull it off since Portland is also in win now mode so downgrading CJ to Middleton wouldn't be a huge draw, and Bledsoe would add limited value as a backup, I also don't see him having enough trade value on his own to net enough value that Portland would even consider an offer for CJ. Not only is he one of Lillards best friends, he is also the GMs favorite. He is just difficult to make an offer for.

Looking at the Bucks other players, while I doubt Parker is on the table, with his injury history I wouldn't even consider him as a possibility for Portland, leaving only Giannis which completely defeats the purpose even if the Bucks would consider trading him which they won't.

While as a pair yes they could have more value and Bucks fans could certainly argue this, in this case the blazers would want quality not quantity, just like the bucks. With the overpay to get CJ there just isn't a deal here that I can see unless Portland would decide to completely rebuild which isn't likely.

Go for LeBron. He and Giannis would rule the East.

LeBron wants to stay in the East.

Ummm, the 22 year old guy who averaged 20ppg last season before tearing his acl for the second time. Well, he’s back again and looks good again on minutes restriction. A star for sure  if he can stay healthy.

I know the OP wants to keep Jabari. I agree there's a lot of potential there. But I think he plays the same position as Giannis.

Don't know if this is enough but let's give it a go:
Bledsoe, Henson to Lakers for Ball and Deng. Lakers get Lebron buddy and a rim protector.
Ball, Jabari (S+T), Middleton, Teletovic, Thon Maker for Anthony Davis, Hill, Moore.
NOP get two potential stars in Ball (I know I'm a Lakers fan but I would definitely trade him for a first) and Parker, a fringe All-Star in Middleton, a "could be anything" in Thon Maker and expiring Teletovic. NOP could move Middleton to a third party pretty easily for some other asset. Also have a pretty clean cap sheet to take on bad contracts for assets. Could also S+T Boogie right?

Brogdon, Snell, Hill, Giannis, AD. Delly, Moore, Zeller. And see how that works for a year. Giannis would have to be content with getting a top 10 (conservatively ranked) player. Then give it one more year with minor tweaks. Don't do anything silly like give Brogdon too much money. In 2020, Delly, Deng, Hill and Moore will expire. Get a FA willing to play with AD and Giannis - its third star. And keep the Jet.

No we wouldn't. Wall isn't getting moved.
