Thomas can make sense. Before the draft, the Magic would be:

Thomas/Augustin/Mack
Fournier/Ross/Iwundu
Isaac/Simmons
Gordon
Vučević/Biyombo/Birch

That roster really frees up Orlando to draft BPA.

I've been thinking that the same thing about us possibly going after him this offseason. If we were to sign him and he were to go back to how he played for the Celtics, that could be the turnaround we need.

But there's no guarantee that that happens. It could be a very risky move to make, especially if we overpay for him.

I could totally see the Magic drafting someone like Young and then signing IT only to have Young sit and watch most of the season. Seems like something we would do.

The hip injury makes it even more of a risk. If he's healthy, he has the ability to put a team on his back and carry it for a while (which we obviously could use!) but he didn't exactly light things on fire coming back from injury this season, and now another surgery? I think it's too risky.

No, just no. He's 29, declined due to injury and would make us worse on court. Most of all, his ego can't accept yet what had happend and would ruin our fragile locker room.

I'm not sure if I would want him in Orlando, but he's definitely an alpha, something we lack.

For the mle this is a no brainer

We r his best chance to return an all star

If it's the MLE then I agree completely - I just find it hard to believe he will sign for that.

Was Derrick Rose not an alpha?

Nah... Honestly I'm sick of this team signing vets. Can this team please try to rebuild through the draft/young players for once? We gave it one god damn year before throwing money at vets and look what this team has become.

Because even the youngest teams sign vets? Look at the Kings for example. It is very rare to have a team with zero vets.

Now if we do fire Vogel and hire Stackhouse, that could happen. We could go full youth movement. But I can tell you if we do it, this team will be exceptionally bad still - for years.

Who else cab offer more than that?

Every Teams under the cap already have a starting pg

We can't offer more than the mle so it's not like we will over pay

I’m not an IT fan but if we draft a defensive big like JJjr or Bamba then this makes enough sense to try.

If he is damaged good we only lost the mle
It's a low risk , decent reward

IT has huge believe in himself (tbh I m not a fan of his game as I like my players to play d ), he value stardum over money.
The guy want to be MVP, to have a chance to be a MVP, you need to be a starter.

Which other nba team can offer him a starting spot?

I don't see any other

And if there is another they can only offer him the mle too.

So then it's down to the sale pitch

Simms +ag+isaac +bamba would be able to cover his defensive weaknesses

He is going to have a huge chip on his shoulder next season... would love a MLE level contract with bonuses for his preformance... if its legal.

Can teams place performance bonuses on NBA contracts?
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...
