Re: 2018 Hornets Big Board #9
This would be a difficult pick if these were the players on the board. The risk adverse side of me would choose Mikal. But based on potential and how the game has changed I chose Trae Young. Trae is going to boom or bust. I don't really see anything in between and I think it's gonna take a patient team several years to really see him payoff. On the right team, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mikal make the All Rookie 1st team.

I went with Miles Bridges., but I wouldn't be all that happy about drafting any of the remaining guys at 11 and we are only at 9 on the big board.
If the top 10 is that top 8 and Miles Bridges goes 9 or 10, I would be open to trading back. I don't want Trae Young, Collin Sexton, or Kevin Knox, at all and I'm skeptical of Mikal Brigdes being more than a 3rd/4th wing. We can probably get someone like Zhaire Smith, Josh Okogie, or Huerter, in the 14-20 range (or Lonnie Walker or whoever you like) and maybe nab an asset from someone trying to trade up for Trae Young.

Re: 2018 Hornets Big Board #9
I try to avoid making firm proclamations about prospects because player progression is so unpredictable, but its getting really hard for me to see how Trae Young isn't going to be a huge bust. He has Kembas body dimensions, but with straight up bad athleticism instead of elite. He has poor IQ. He doesn't try at all on defense. He is supposed to be a volume shooter, but his 3pt% in college and high school hasn't eclipsed 36% for a season. He seems like Trae Burke with better vision and possibly even worse IQ and effort.
I really hope he and Mikal Bridges both go top 10, so we have a good chance of Shai, Miles, or maybe even Porter/Carter, being available at 11.
Edit: This post probably guarantees Trae Youngs rookie of the year campaign.

Picked Mikal. Don't quite believe in Trae and his fit with Kemba and Monk. Even if we trade Kemba, I wouldn't touch Trae because I would hate a backcourt of Monk and Trae.
