Pacers Plan On Retaining Bojan Bogdanovic

Post#1 » by Jake0890 » Sun Jun 24, 2018 5:12 pm

https://8points9seconds.com/2018/06/24/pacers-bojan-bogdanovic-keeping/

The Indiana Pacers plan on letting Bojan Bogdanovic’s contract become guaranteed on June 29th and keeping him as around as a small forward.

The Indiana Pacers currently plan to retain Bojan Bogdanovic — whose contract is only partially guaranteed for next season — and would be comfortable going into next season with him as a starter, according to a source familiar with the Pacers offseason plans.

I don't think anyone will be particularly surprised by this, his shooting (despite his end of game errors) were crucial in a lot of games.

looks like DC and Bogie come back and Thad if he chooses. Big Al, Grob3, and Joe likely cap casualties.

This is consistent with Pritchard’s comments “bringing back the teams first 6 or 7 guys and adding a player or two. My take 6 vs 7 driven by by Thad’s return or not. My math Stephenson isn’t in the for sure bring backs.

he has a cheap contract and isn't very tradeable. he's only played well here. we'll see soon but I expect him back.

EDIT: RealGM free agent podcast says we kept Bogie but not Lance and Thad opted out. I have no idea whether that was based on rumors, or was just a simplifying assumption for their discussions.

I expect lance to come back. He certainly played well enough to get picked up.

I also tjimk they will have an agreement with Thad to opt out and resign a 3 yr $10 million per deal.

I expect a three year somewhere between 40 and 50 with the third year having a team option and/or a small guarantee. I'm thinking something like the deal Jefferson received.

Thad is looking at no better than the MLE from other teams. Id be ok with a declining deal starting at $12 million declining for 4 yrs final yr not guaranteed.

Most I’d give is 3 years $30 million, and that’s only if we strike out on the restricted market.

So Boggie scored in double digits for 20 consecutive games now.
He is the big reason Pacers are 19-10 considering Dippo’s injury
He is free agent next summer
What do you think Pacers will do.
I guess his agent will look for 15/mil a year considering many other players in the league has that and are not as good offensively and not as way better defensively.
I think 2yrs/30mill he might accept.
Ot if he insist on three years than like 3yrs/39mill
I thinks its reasonable.

I've been of the mind that he's probably going somewhere else after this season to chase a paycheck that we won't want to give him if we're hunting in free agency plus knowing a Sabonis extension is somewhere down the line.

But I wouldn't be unhappy to see him back. Is there a more underrated starting small forward in the league?

I think the risk of seeing him walk has me a bit interested in TJ Warren of the Suns. He’s having a hell of a year and even a she reverts back a bit to the mean, he’s starting to hit the 3. But mostly, it’s the cost control for 3 more years at around $10-12m a year. To me, I’d send out a Collison for that cost control on a guy still getting better.

I'd rate the odds of losing free agents in this order

Collison
Evans
Thad
Bojan
CoJo.

most likely first. Collison age. Thad desire for long contract.

Sigh, Bogie

Not quite good enough that I'd want him long term, not quite bad enough that I'd want an immediate replacement

He'd be good to have around if he's willing to accept a bench role

It's kind of the same story with Thad I suppose: they're both good enough that you don't mind having them around, but they're both probably chasing after a big contract and the problem is they're both not great enough that you'd feel super comfortable committing to them long term

Doug could be a good replacement for Bogie though, so I don't see a huge urgency to retain him

Other than it’s nice to have two guys who can shoot that good.

Pacers fans are so funny sometimes... there are half of them here who are satisfied with the worst playmaker ever... the only reason why are we not contender yet is that we dont have legit PG in team... and some of them wont to let second best player in team because he will ask 5 millions more next year... hillarious...

I mean, we can upgrade the PG position easy. Just attach Collison in a trade to Bojan and/or Domas, and we could net an upgrade. Or....we’re happy with Collison because we don’t want to move Bojan/Dom? :dontknow:

we are a contender.

DC may be our fifth best starter but every team has a hierarchy. I can see hard bargaining next summer and no one is saying he's Kyrie or Wall but he's not without virtues.

We drafted a point guard. Sumner also should return.

Bojan will be offerred market value. negotiations could be contentious over contract length but I doubt he'll get offers over our budget. the same coud be said for Thad.

Not a fan of Warren. He seems the classic put up stats on a bad team guy. To me, he's really only a scorer. I guess the same criticism can be made of Bogie, but at least he's shown a bit of all around game which has made him very effective. I think it's not out of the question that we'll try to retain him.

Speaking of guys who are having nice years, I'd be interested in MKG if Bojan leaves. I've always liked MKG, but he seems to be playing particularly well this season, and is even hitting the occasional 3. Usual contract year warning applies, of course.

Bojan will stay here... he will not ask to much... for him is more importante to play in good team...
