GT #1: Official Season Opener Heat @ Wizards 8:00 PM

Post#1 » by milellie111 » Thu Oct 18, 2018 1:49 pm

Coming off of yet another successful playoff clinching season last year, the Wizards are poised yet again to continue success for the 2018-2019 season. The team has improved it's roster by adding quality depth on the bench, and has upgraded the center position with an all-star quality defensive big man. Wall, a true leader and warrior will continue in his role as Bradley Beal picks right up where he left off last year as the Eastern Conference's best back court. The team totally impressed in preseason.

It takes good ownership, management, coaching, and teamwork to continue success. Excitement for the team is at an all time high and hopefully this is the year to capitalize on a weakened Eastern Conference and bring home a championship in "Capital" fashion!

Here is to a Wizards win on opening night!

Miami is playing on a back-to-back. They lost in Orlando last night.

Howard is questionable for the game.

This thread should be deleted, & someone who is an actual member of this community of fans start a game thread for tonight.

Milellie111 is a member of the community. I find his (her?) shtick amusing. Quality trolling.

And let's face it, whatever board traditions we've had have failed miserably. The team hasn't won 50 games in 40 years!

Maybe we ought to have Milellie do every game thread.

This team this year is probably the most well constructed it has ever been. We actually have starters sitting on our bench. Howard and Mahimi will be an imposing defensive pair at center. Howard averaged 17ppg and 13 rpg last year. Let's see how those same numbers look now that he's finally playing with an all star pg.

Wall and Beal are a lock to maintain their stellar 20+ ppg performance from last year. The power forward position has greatly improved with the addition of Jeff Green rotating in an out with Morris. A 15ppg scorer Austin Rivers coming off the bench along with last year's breakout performer Satoransky? I'll gladly take that! Add to the fact that Otto Porters already solid numbers last year should improve and Kelly Oubre most likely makes the jump to a 15ppg scorer this year, there is not a better time to be a fan than now!

Millie = EG's mom, well constructed team? I guess we're about to put that to the test.

This is the perfect first game of the season. Miami is our kryptonite and Whiteside is Wall's kryptonite. I honestly fear him more against Wall than I do a h2h matchup against Curry or Westbrook. He just shuts him down and they force Wall into him.

Now we finally have a big to matchup against him in Howard but he might not play. Most of all, Wall worked out with and played against Whiteside a ton in the offseason. Also Wall just looks like a much more cerebral player this year and he's consistently making layups. I want to see him get past that hurdle. If he does then we win

Trap game. A game we should win but probably lose. Miami, Orlando and Charlotte are our baby daddies.

Wait, Millie is here AND started the game 1 thread. Ok, I'm impressed.

On one hand, Miami is fighting to avoid losing 2 straight back to back - that's a very strong incentive. Otoh, the back end of back2bakcs is usually tiring and causes that team to get tired in the 2nd half. On the 3rd hand (hand... is Hands here too?), Wash has to come out strong on their home opener - sky high. Wall/Beal/Otto should blow up. On the 4th hand, Mia has 3 quality bigs. If Howard can't go, we have... Mahinmi. Smallball for the win!

Ok, true enough. I withdraw my suggestion.

Millie -- nate's right: if your game thread leads to a win tonight, you should do the game 2 thread as well. Who knows... this could turn out well.

& we won't blame you if we lose either! :)

We own Orlando. We beat them 3 out of 4 last year and 17 of our last 20.

Miami is our daddy. We managed to win 2 of 4 last year, but prior to that it has been a ****.

Charlotte has owned us lately as well.
