Sign and Trade scenario.
PHI Gets: J Richardson, Olynyk
Miami Gets: Jimmy Butler and #54 pick

Sixers not in a position of power, since Miami can find other ways to shed salary and sign Jimmy if that’s where he wants to go.

Looks like they're 20 million over the cap once Whiteside opts in. That's a crap ton of salary they would need to shed.

They just need to ship out at least 26M, which is within 125% of Butler’s first year 32.4M.

I was responding about shedding salary to sign him themselves.

My bad. Yeah, I agree that’s not happening. Miami won’t be able to sign him outright.

Unless I'm mistaken the Lakers have a MAX slot open. They can sign Butler, and then trade for Anthony Davis afterwards. I assume the deal will be Ball + Ingram + #4 (30 days after signed).

So if Butler wants to go to the Lakers we're in trouble. If not, then I expect the Lakers to be the darkhorse to get Kemba Walker with their open MAX slot. He slides in as their starting PG and their lineup is:

PG Walker
SG Hart
SF Shadow
PF Kuzma
CE Davis

Dangerous team, but no bench whatsoever. They'd be rolling out Isaac Bonga, Mo Wagner, and whoever they could get with the Room Exception and Vet minimums.

If I'm Jimmy I'd rather play with best player in the game + AD, than fragile Jojo + BS who doesn't want to work on his game.

Really hope that he stays though.

If Butler wants a chance to win it all and he likes LA, he's gone.
If he doesn't want to finish his career as the third banana and if he wants more $, he will stay here in Philly.

I doubt Butler goes to Lakers. Lebron + AD + Butler is not a good fit, there is not enough shooting. That being said, we are in the same situation with poor shooting in starting lineup, so who knows.

So, basically Jimmy Butler could be interested in another team IF the Sixers don't offer him a full 5 year Max.

Even if Jimmy actually prefers Philly (assuming equal money), that's the way for him to play it.

Yup, even if he and Tobi want to stay this is how both their agents will play it. This is why max for both was the only option that was out there.

You just max this player and hope that you hit some draft picks to get bench pieces.

It's better than losing them and sign average players like saric or covington, we ain`t winning **** with them.

I love butler but he’s older and expensive so If he doesn’t take the 4 yr max and maybe wants to go to Miami I’d sign and trade him for josh Richardson, dion waiters and bam adebayo or if he walks I’d keep Tobias and go after dudes like Wesley Mathews, ariza and Marcus Morris keep JJ but bring off the bench!
Simmons/Matthews/Ariza/Harris/Embiid with Morris and JJ off the bench

That's fine. He may be saving the 76ers from themselves. If they give Butler 190 million over years, they are fools. He isn't that kind of player. Spend that money on a young free agent with a lower max figure.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Philly litterally almost beat the eventual champs with Embiid sick a number of games and without homecourt advantage. I guess I don't get what Philly fans think they can get with their cap space. People act like Butler's already 34, he's 29 and the kicker... he can be traded later in the contract if Philly needs to change it up. Philly's 1st round picks they may have to give up to make moves are going to late 1st rounders...

If you can "run it back", this current team has a chance to win a championship for the next 4-5 years, while Butler fades some in his mid 30s, Embiid and hopefully Simmons get better to pick up the slack.

When you have your chance at winning a championship you take it, you never know what's going to happen in the future.
