I honestly don't think
he dropped off at all. I watched probably about 75 of the games this year. Any purported "drop offs" in his production and impact have a lot more to do with the opposing teams game-planning for him better and better as the season ensued. It felt like there were different phases to his season:
1. He came out guns blazing and teams were not quite ready for him i.e. no defensive game-plan against him. He put up great numbers.
2. Within a few weeks, teams started to give him more attention. He looked to facilitate more since it was harder to drive with the paint being more packed in and all the defenders looking at him.
3. Teams adjusted further by completely selling out on his drives i.e. shadowing him all the way to the rim without concern for a pull-up shot. This caused him a lot of problems.
4. In the last few months of the season he finally started taking the mid-ranged pull up with confidence and his three point shot came back. Given the way he was being defended, he absolutely had to take the wide open shots defenses were giving him.
Moving forward it should be pretty clear what he needs to do: continue to improve his shot and handles. That's it. He already has amazing instincts and elite athleticism (you can't teach either of these things).
The other thing that needs to happen from the team-level is that the Fox/Bagley screen-action needs to become the bread-and-butter of the offense. There's no good reason for this not to happen.
