Devin Booker vs. The World

Post#1 » by GQ Hot Dog » Mon Jan 28, 2019 5:45 am

Is D-Book going to pick a fight in every game? First he wanted to fight Dieng for a relatively innocuous elbow in the flow of play, a total non-event. Tonight he stares down Zubac after making the softest of layups over him. I guess losing does this to some people, he's ready to explode at any moment.

He does seem like he's always ready to beef, but that makes his games more entertaining to watch, IMO.

Devin Booker is an absolute idiot on and off the court. Just a complete moron.

That Lakers Suns game was hard to watch. Never seen so many passes to nobody. Looked like a couple bad teams playing summer league.

Jamal Murray was doing this before it was cool.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

He also seemed to go after Beasley after he got blocked cleanly. I don't understand how no one from the Suns has either told him to stop being a spoilt child or gotten him help for anger management. This isn't healthy behaviour from a guy they want to build their franchise around for the next decade.

He's been getting very irritated by the lack of help he gets from his teammates. Problem is, he's been very selfish lately too. Yells at teammates when they make a mistake, and then when he makes a mistake he brushes it off like it's no big deal. He doesn't hold himself accountable at all, and a lot of Suns fans are giving him **** for it.

He comes off as one of the more unlikable guys in the league. I can’t say he’s an actual lousy person though, he would benefit greatly from a coach like Pop, and a good group of veteran leaders.

I think it’s becoming quick clear that this guy needs a change of scenery.

I still think he's an empty stats player who will have a hard time adjusting to being a 2nd or 3rd option on a team.

I used to give him the benefit of the doubt but I think I’m starting to agree. He’s starting to remind me of this generation’s Stephon Marbury.

Part of the problem is, he was crowned the franchise cornerstone relatively early in his career (midway through his rookie season). He started getting compliments from superstars/HOFers like Kobe, Wade, Durant saying how good this young kid is. It all went to his head. He still has a ton of pressure on his shoulders, especially given his max contract. A group of veterans is what the Suns have been going after since Booker got here, but it's been pseudo-veterans that have no actual value on the court. Booker would benefit nicely from someone like Jrue Holiday, Kemba Walker, a quality veteran that can lead through action and not just through words.

Another coaching change would likely not benefit Booker and the other young players on the roster. They need some continuity.
