Why draft Cam Reddish aside from "potential"?

Post#1 » by BlueHeat » Fri Mar 15, 2019 2:09 am

Huge Duke fan here, but Cam Reddish has been abysmal this year. Aside from "potential" he hasn't been impressive at all. He's had a few good games, but these are his numbers.

SEASON TEAM MIN FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS
2018-19 DUKE 29.5 4.6-12.8 .356 2.6-7.9 .332 2.5-3.3 .765 3.8 2.1 0.5 1.8 2.4 2.8 14.3

Hes an incredibly inefficient chucker by any means. Would you throw away a lotto pick?

Guy is playing 3rd fiddle to the top 2 prospects in the draft. Give him a break.

Remember when Booker came out and everyone was like "Oh I didn't know he had this type of ball game." same thing with Cam. He'll look a lot better in 48 minute games with more space

Been saying the same thing.

He could use another year in college to figure things out but the money is too good to pass up which I fear could hurt his long term earning potential.

He's going to better than RJ Barrett.

I don't watch the NCAA because it's an affront to basketball in general, but Reddish is a wing with good measurables who can handle and create his own shot. He may not be elite at anything right now, but few college prospects are.
It's time for 5 refs.

I'd be very hesitant to draft any of the Duke guys outside of Zion. Tre Jones looks like he might be a solid back up NBA point guard but outside of that it's hard to envision how the other guys fit into a winning NBA rotation.

Because the draft class isn’t that good outside 2 or 3?

Marvin Williams comes to mind when I think about Cam. I believe his stock decreases from #3.
I hope he proves me wrong, but I consider him a risk, and I don't want him if I'm picking top 5.

He’s going to fall outside the top 5 imo

1. Zion Williamson
2. Ja Morant
3. RJ Barrett
4. Jarrett Culver
5. Darious Garland

Top 5

Why draft anyone? Zion has 0 actual skills, Morant can't shoot, Barret is a ball hog chucker with 0 defense.

Marvin was a better prospect and it wasn't close but Cam has far more potential at SF. The issue with Marvin, he came 15 years too soon

Zion is frighteningly skilled, I have no idea where that take is coming from, even if slightly tongue-in-cheek.

I love his defense and especially his length at wing. That translates well to the NBA.

He hasn't shot it well, but I think as he matures his shooting will improve. And in the NBA, most likely he won't be asked to score as much. His calling card should be defense.

He really reminds me of Andre Iguodala. Iguodala is one of the best perimeter defenders of All Time, so I'm not saying Reddish is that, but he reminds me of Dre.
