It's a really good question rather than silly.

It's an interesting question, not a 'silly' one. I think having elite players is essential. I also think having a plan and sticking to it is key. Having both those things is what it takes to be a championship contender.

I think what currently sets us apart from the perpetual bottom-feeders is the fact that we have a plan and are currently sticking to it. Trading Young for Zion would represent a departure from that plan so the answer is a 'no' for me.

I think Zion is an elite athlete. We don't know yet if he's an elite NBA player.

I'm giving myself 25 points for out-wording @sturt.

Interesting response.

Unfortunately, the OP specifically asked for a "simple yes or no" as it pertained to the topic/question... so...

... we have to deduct 50 points for disregarding the OP's wishes.

A star perimeter player is more important than a star big. Even if Zion is more talented, our team would feel lost without Trae running the show. He’s shown special ability that you’re unlikely to replace.

Dangit, is this what it feels like to be on the other side of clever, well-placed snark? :(

Actually, it's what it feels like to be on the other side when you're sober... all those other times previously evidently you weren't. :noway:

Trae's season, despite getting some recognition, is still very underappreciated. We just saw a 20 year rookie PG turn in an historic rookie season and play all 82 games in the process (ok they sat him for one). 19/8, played and started 81 games/30 minutes a game. I mean gm-chrysler.

It is a really good question.

I'd have to consider it.

If we could move Trae for #1 (essentially Zion) straight up, it leaves us with Collins, Huerter and two additional top-10 picks. We'd definitely have some options.

NOTE: I can't imagine that anyone outside of Atlanta would hesitate to move Trae for Zion. I think we as a fanbase have our homer goggles on. We've come a long way on Trae in the course of 6 months.

I think it's homer goggles vs draft hype though. I love Zion but it's not like he's guaranteed to be Lebron. We already know that Trae is legit top PG in this league.

On this we agree....

In the same vein as the OP, who would you rather have: Luka Doncic or Zion Williamson?

New Orleans would laugh and hang up the phone. Just read an article from an unnamed GM saying that Zion is already a top 5 asset in the NBA. As much as we love Trae, he ain't no top 5 asset in the NBA.

I love how the experts are wrong year after year but it doesn't stop them from pretending to be Nostradamus year after year

It's conceivable to develop Williamson on the things in L***'s game that Zion currently lacks. It's inconceivable to develop L*** to be able to do the things Williamson can but that L*** currently can't.

It’s different when one of the players is already an established leader on your team. We would be undoing a lot of progress on the hope that Zion is everything he’s hyped up to be. If he’s not quite as good as promised or explodes out of his shoes one time too many then we’d be screwed. Not to mention the questionable fit with Collins.

Wow. Must say I'm shocked with the results so far. Not that I disagree, but this fan base traditionally over values potential.
