Houston is Looking to Trade....

Post#1 » by jebdrbhjb » Thu Jun 27, 2019 12:21 am

Houston is looking to add another star alongside Harden and CP3. They have their eyes on a S&T with Philly for Butler. What about we do one of these three:

CJ for Capela/Tucker
CJ for Capela/Gordon
CJ/Meyers for Capela/Tucker/Gordon (my favorite)

I know we all love CJ, but Gordon is a decent replacement and if the buzz of "Simons is ready to break out" is true, this would potentially give him more minutes. Capela is the type of PF we have all wanted and Tucker would be a great "glue guy" off the bench and playing meaningful minutes while Nurk continues his rehab. Another bonus is Gordon has only one year left on his deal.

I understand Hosuton prefers Butler because he's a wing, but S&Ts are harder these days and Philly may not be interested in doing it.
Excuse me please, one more drink

Blazers also want another star. How about Rockets give Harden to a team that will trade us a star?

At first I thought this post was serious. I reached for the brown liquor. Then I saw "Capela the PF," then I recognized the satire. Bravo.

Capela is not a long term fit for Portland but Tucker would be a useful player to have.

PJ Tucker is just another Bazemore, Aminu, Harkless, etc. Nice player, but the Blazers at some point need to aim higher.

Tucker is 34 and not a young 34. He's got mileage by playing the way he does. Take him in a different trade? Sure. Okay.
Gordon is not a fan of Olshey. Not seeing that one happen.
CJ is a better fit with Lillard.

I do really like Capela. He has his limitations, but he's earning that paycheck for the dirty work done in Houston. I like Nurkic more and see Collins as achieving more.

The Rockets have 2 of my top 5 least favorite players. The public dissatisfaction with 3 of their 5 starters is going to make that locker room even more toxic than the Lakers last season if they don't end up moving them.

I wouldn't trade CJ for any or all of their role players. I am on the record as being open to trading him but there are only a handful of guys I'd move him for and these guys are not on that list.

In any case the point is moot because the Rockets want to trade for cap-space so they can sign Butler or get picks to s+t for him. Even if we met their criteria I don't see us helping them out. Let them rot from the inside.

Houston looking to gain flexibility to sign Jimmy Butler. I don't think blazers are a compatible trade partner for them.

Houston wants add Butler to the team, but I gotta believe they're looking to move players to dump salary, not swap players. CJ would play the same position as Butler, Paul, and Harden.

Dumping salary isn't going to do them any good, unless they can dump one of their $40M+ contracts. If they want to do a sign and trade, they need to consolidate their smaller salaries into a bigger one. They might be trying to make a deal with Cavs (Love) or Celtics (Hayward).

Media reports have mentioned Houston looking at 3-team trades as a way to do the sign and trade. While players they have might not be what the 76ers want, a 3rd or 4th team could "help" get a mutually beneficial trade done ... not that anyone is jumping to help Morey.

IMO, helping Morey in this case would be helping toll the death knell for the Rockets as a competitive team. CP3/Harden/Butler, on paper is an alltime great trio. I just don't see how that trio of Alphas is going to work in reality...especially since CP3 and Harden already have issues.

OP,

No offense, and maybe GreenRiddler is right in thinking you are joking...

But these are among the worst trades for CJ that I've seen on RealGM.

We should be looking to sign and trade for Butler. Replace him with Harkless this past season and we are winning the championship 100%.

Anyone but Lillard, McCollum and Zach Collins and as many draft picks as they want for the guy.
