Team is Set! Predict Minutes!

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Mon Jul 1, 2019 6:39 pm

Well boys, looks like we are locked and loaded for this upcoming season!

I'm very happy with Vlade. We can harp and whine about did he overpay here or there, but the fact is he locked up a guy he thought was a core piece to a declining contract, and then got all 3 of the vets to take partial guarantees on the last year of their deals!

I have a feeling Vlade likes those partials because they can be used as trade chips. I can imagine 2 deadlines from now Vlade using Joseph/Dedmon/picks to grab a nice player.

Either way heres your 2019-2020 Sacramento Kings and my minute prediction.

Dedmon (24) / Giles (20) / Bagley (4)
Bagley (30) / Bjelica (10) / Barnes (8)
Barnes ( 22) / Ariza (18) / Bogdan (8)
Buddy (32) / Bogdan (16)
Fox (33) / Joseph (15)

Barnes will be getting more minutes than that. I'd predict a decent amount of smallball with Barnes at 4 and Bagley at 5.

I think he will to, but I just don't know whose getting squeezed for minutes? I feel like Bogdan cant be cut much more than 24-25? is Ariza going to be a 12-15mpg guy? Im thinking more like 18-20 but we will see.

I think we might see Bjelica completely cut out of the rotation at a certain point.

Yes, he's old.

His decline is overrated. He was arguably the 3rd most important piece to the Rockets run a little over 1 year ago. He played 34 minutes the last 2 seasons, more than he should. I think hes still a 20mpg guy easily.

Pg

Fox 33, Joseph 15

SG

Buddy 30, Bogi 18

SF

Barnes 28, Ariza 15, Bogi 5

PF

Bagley 30, Barnes 2

This gets interesting 16 minutes left, going to vary here, some nights Bjelica gets them all, some games look for a split of 8/8 for Holmes.

C

Dedmon 25, Giles 23

Dedmon-25,Holmes-18,Giles-5
Bagley-32,Bjelica-10,Giles-6
Barnes-34,Ariza-14
Hield-32,Bogdan-16
Fox-34,CoJo-14

For those who feel there are not enough minutes (like me), relax! : This type of minute distribution assumes every single player is available for each game. For instance, if each player is available in 75 games out of 82 on average, then you can simply distribute total of 262 minutes. I mean everyone would possibly average more minutes than we assume here

Buddy needs to get more minutes this year, not less. He's the one player you can ride because he has unreal endurance. The Kings are a little stuffed so somebody is getting crunched. Fox, Buddy, Barnes, and Bagley are your real starter minutes guys. The rest will fill in around that.

The focus is on the big 4 so I like it, but the only way 5 bigs works is if they do the merry go round like previous years. One player plays one game, doesn't the other. The problem with that is even in the Kings situation when having done that these last few years players eventually started getting frustrated. If they run 11 deep, which is possible as a long as those starters play real starter minutes, then the players they signed better buy in and know what they're getting into.

I am trying to project from Walton's LAL coaching... where other than James, most players were sub 30 min/gm even though they were hammered by injuries.

Fox 30
Joseph or Ferrel 16 (I don't think this is set in stone)
Hield 30
Bogdan 24
Barnes 30
Ariza 14
Bagley 28
Giles 12
Bjelica 12
Dedmon 28
Holmes 16

But I really don't know - it is going to be interesting to see who emerges...

TBH i'm not even in love with having a 10 man rotation. I mean its fine during the regular season but hoping playoffs we need to be able to cut this down to 8-9 max.

Id be under the impression that basically Holmes or Bjelica gets minutes depending on matchup. And then there will be stretches when Giles or Dedmon are out, in that case they both get minutes.

Playoff rotation (Since we are definitely making it wink wink)

Dedmon
Bagley
Barnes
Buddy
Fox

With Giles, Ariza, Bogdan getting all the bench minutes.

Return to Sacramento Kings
