What is Gersson Rosas doing?

Post#1 » by AssistRubio » Wed Jul 10, 2019 4:27 am

He literally hasn't done a single thing right since taking over for the Wolves.

He swung and missed on trading up for Garland.
He swung and missed on acquiring D'Angelo Russell. Which in return wasted our entire FA period with not being able to acquire a single meaningful player.
Now just let an asset like Tyus Jones walk for nothing.

What in the world is he doing?

Patience is sometimes the right move. It's not like Tyus Jones is going to be anything more than a backup in the NBA long-term.

Tyus may not be some great player, but he’s one of the hardest working basketball players I’ve seen and he’s great for the culture. Not to mention he’s a local which wins a few points from Minnesotans. It would’ve been better to keep him around than let Napier take his spot, and while albeit a small one in the grand scheme of things, I agree it was a mistake by Rosas

We just lost an asset for nothing. He already gave away Saric and wasn't able to acquire the player he was trading up for (Garland).

He has spent cap space this off season on nothing but crap.

Good luck to the Wolves being able to sell any tickets for this upcoming season. They deserve to be dead last in attendance.

he traded up for Culver, if he didn't want Culver he would've not traded up. not like he was FORCED to trade up regardless if Garland was there or not.

You say that as though there is evidence the only player he was interested in trading up for was Garland. Could you provide that evidence please?

Not sure but now they have a major hole at Power Forward unless KAT is gonna play Power Forward in which case they would have a hole at Center.

It's been reported by literally every local guy here that Garland is the guy they wanted. They had Culver in the same tier as him but Garland was the guy.

Your post is not evidence. If they had Culver in the same tier, why are you mentioning that as a negative at all?

Because Garland was who they wanted. They settled for Culver.

Garland was plan A
Culver was Plan B

It's not like rosas panicked. He was obviously ok with both options.

And the bigger picture is, what is his plan?

This is a franchise that doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt. Glen Taylor is the worst owner in the league. And has hired nothing but incompetent idiots to run his franchise.

Lol...he has been doing fine. Tyus's shooting percentages were horrible...he isn't worth that money considering the limitations he has. He tried to get DLo but couldn't clear cap space on time because the previous Wolves FO handed over lot of terrible contracts. It's not easy to get rid of those contracts, especially Wiggins one. Acquired some decent young players with potential through free agency. He traded up for either Garland or Culver...so yeah don't see anything wrong with that. Saric was an expiring contract and he wasn't happy in Minnesota anyways. That was a good trade.

What did he do that anyone from Realgm couldn't do? So far he's been all talk in everything he's done.

And "decent" young players? Who exactly? Not a single player he signed is better than Saric/Tyus (who are guys that could have fit into the long term future).

They got Jake Layman who can be one of the most improved players this year. That's not too bad. They are still young with a bright future. If they keep Wiggins, maybe he can be much better this year after disappointment last year.

They should try to trade for Westbrook, they have the pieces.

Didn’t Rosas get hired after the season? Once Jones was set to become a RFA? Not his fault Jones didn’t get moved before the deadline. Once he hits RFA, he’s no longer an asset.

He hasn't done a single thing you agreed with. It doesn't mean he's done wrong.

Don't blame your GM if a free agent prefers the Warriors to your team.

AssistRubio wrote:Which in return wasted our entire FA period with not being able to acquire a single meaningful player.

You guys are over the cap, and therefore very limited in your options in free agency.

AssistRubio wrote:Now just let an asset like Tyus Jones walk for nothing.

You don't know if Tyus Jones with an $8M salary is still an "asset".

Whos going to start?

I feel like Vonleh is the only "real" power forward on that team.

Maybe they can call up the Knicks and trade for one of there 216937 power forwards. :D
