Jeremy Lin opens up about hitting ‘rock bottom’ in free agency

I feel for the dude...
He won a ring and yet he's struggling to accept that he was a part of a championship team. I mean he's only 30...you guys think there is still room for him in this league? Personally, I still think that he can be a serviceable backup for many teams. The pressure got to him last year. He knew that the team he was joining was elite and that his role could've potentially been significant if he would've performed during that short stretch, but he choked. I still think he deserves another shot though. A young team should bring him in for the vet minimum and have him mentor some of their young guys, what do you guys think?

He made a risky play: join a contender and get profile in a deep playoff run. He got a chance in the regular season. He tanked.
I feel bad for him. I do. But that's just the unfortunate reality of his situation.

Feel like he may just be better suited for playing as a stopgap on rebuilding teams. He looked decent as a bench player in ATL and CHA before joining the Raps and seems like a good teammate so I’m kinda surprised a single team hasn’t even offered him a 1 year veteran minimum contract.

He got hurt. Lost his form. Lost his shot. Got kind of more chances than his play deserved last year, though Nurse did a good job on the timing of those chances. Perspective is everything. He has more resources for a better life than most of us combined.

He made decent money in the NBA and he’s a smart guy. He’ll figure it out.

Re: Jeremy Lin opens up about hitting ‘rock bottom’ in free agency
Talk about luck. if Lin had been just a little better during the regular season, Nurse might have been tempted to give him a chance in Game 2 or 3 of the Bucks series and bench Fred. And Raps would have lost the series.
OT, but my favourite lucky strike in this run was trading Moose to be waived after he had played a decent game against the Sixers with JV out. So naturally Brand picks Monroe off of waivers, and he got minutes in the series when Embiid rested. Those minutes won us the series. Masai playing 3D chess.

Re: Jeremy Lin opens up about hitting ‘rock bottom’ in free agency
With all due respect I don’t have any pity for him.
He got to live the dream and can still make an NBA roster. Most guys have their door abruptly close on their careers all the time. Look at Carmelo.
Professional sports is ultra competitive and you have young stars coming into the league every year. That’s why it’s really impressive what Vince has done.
Lin had a crazy stretch in the league where he was all the talk. He made his money and acquired great fame. He still has a shot of making an NBA team and can go to China and become a legend.
He also now has an NBA Championship ring. That’s a solid career

It's hard to feel bad for Lin....$65 million in career earnings not including sponsorships, NBA champion, Harvard degree....and if he wanted to leave the NBA and play for an Asian team he'd still make a boatload of money.

Pretty sure he is worth way more than he earned too. He invested wisely I believe he is well into 9 figures. He just needs to keep working and prove himself. If he found his shot again he would easily find suitors. He isnt bad defensively either despite constant claims otherwise.

I'm surprised if he's not being offered the vet min, including from us earlier in free agency. But I'm guess he was thinking he'd get more money, if for no other reason he opens up marketing opportunities for whatever team.

I don't know what crying in front of the crowd will do. Get in the damn gym Jeremy. You looked like hot garbage in the minutes you played here. Develop a 3 point shot and prove the doubters wrong. You could also go overseas and be a star plus make boatloads of money. You have plenty of options just have to make a choice.

He was quite solid in Charlotte not long ago. That’s who I hoped we’d added.

That was Lin doing his usual testimony in China and Taiwan where he's all doom and gloom. It's this religious thing he does every year and sounds like this. It really shouldn't have got out the way it did. But he does need to work on his shooting and game and sign with a team. He can still play.

He hit rock bottom when he found out we signed the worst player in the NBA Cameron Payne who plays his position over him

Marbury was a good deal better than Lin when he went over the China.

I'm waiting for apologies from the many posters who accused me of racism for accurately claiming that Lin isn't an NBA player and will be out of the league next season.
