Former NBA player Delonte West was recently spotted somewhere in the streets looking down and out.
It isn’t clear where the photo was taken (he lives in Maryland), but it’s definitely a never-before-seen image and appears to have been snapped not long ago.

The last time we heard about Delonte West was three years ago in 2016 when fans snapped a series of unsettling photos of him and said he was “wandering around” by himself with no shoes and wearing a hospital robe in a Jack in the Box parking lot in Houston.

When the fan approached him and asked “Are you Delonte West?” the ex-NBA player replied: “I used to be but I’m not about that life anymore.”

Days later, videos surfaced (via Daily Mail) from January 2019 showing him dancing outside a strip mall and yelling at kids at an under 12s’ basketball game.

A few months later, in June 2016, someone snapped a photo of him walking on a road in his hometown of Prince George’s County, Maryland, and fans on social media speculated that he was homeless and begging for money.

West responded to the rumors, saying that they were far from the truth, and he was actually helping a homeless man.

“I was helping a homeless man in my neighborhood that’s paralyzed from [the] neck down,” he said. “I parked my car and got out to help because it was 90-degree weather and I was feeling blessed at the moment for just having legs.”

That's just sad. The guy has some pretty serious mental health issues and needs to be helped. I hope Adam Silver and the NBA can do something to at least get him some help and back on his feet. I understand he got paid a lot to play basketball and some people are going to rip him for blowing all his money but he clearly has mental health issues and money doesn't solve those.

He was always fun to watch and probably should have had a better career if totally mentally healthy. I'd be surprised if Danny Ainge found out about this and didn't offer some sort of help. Delonte was always a favorite of DA.

He's mentally ill and off of his meds. Can't really force him into treatment, save him getting arrested or having a guardian. Looks like he's not bothering anybody so as long as he's not a danger to himself or anyone else he's going to be left alone. Pretty common theme with people with mental illness that they resist taking medication once it starts to wear off. Tens of thousands of Delontes on the streets with pretty much the same issues. You can't force treatment/meds on someone who doesn't want it unless the courts get involved. And it's obvious that Delonte is in that dilemma -- needing treatment but too sick to allow it.

I do hope that somehow he can get the treatment he needs.

Social media age has made people weird. We know Delonte has had his struggles with being bipolar but a picture on the internet is regular clothes doesn't prove or disprove where he's at in life but the internet is going to spread the negative like wildfire.

I loved brother red - he was a baller on those Cavs teams. He would stick to guys in D even if they were much taller, just knew how to play the game.

Don't forget clean knees and shaven legs. If you're homeless, this 2 things don't add up.

Considering his past struggles I hope he's ok, but yeah that picture really isn't alarming exactly. His eyes are closed and he's sitting down. Doesn't look homeless to me. Wish him well.
