Nuggets' 3rd Center

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Fri Aug 30, 2019 1:03 am

Once again, we only have 2 centers: Jokic & Plumlee. :sigh:
Once again, we are gambling on their health. :banghead:

But wait, maybe this year we are better off at center than we have been for a while.

Last year Grant played 10% of his minutes at center - but ... his stats didn't look so good at center. But with a 7'3" wingspan and playing in Denver's system instead of OKC's ... maybe ... then again, he's rather light for center.

Vanderbilt has a 7'2" wingspan, but also a little light for center.

Tyler Cook is an inch shorter but his wingspan is 7' and he weighs in at 245 - which can help.

Speaking of heavier but still with a wingspan, I do believe Millsap has a 7'2" wingspan and he's heavy enough to manage some center minutes (especially with his IQ).

But maybe, just maybe Cancar might be the best option for a third string center. He's not real tall and I don't know his weight but he looks like he's added some weight since he was drafted at a supposed 210. I like him because he might be able to emulate Jokic a little better than our other choices. With that said, I don't think he'll get a lot of minutes this year.

I believe Cancar is 6'11", could easily see him taking some small ball snaps. Perhaps Bol will get some snaps on that 2-way

That’s the guy I’m thinking is key too. Cancar balls out it may be easier not to have to pay big money for plumlee. Maybe another defensive big and there’s still enough money for Beasley and Craig
