Raptors selling NIKE branded Hijab with team logo
This is why the Raptors are a big part of the future of sports in Canada, not just Toronto. Connecting with communities of all types, making the sport more accessible to all.

I never know if the popular belief is that Hijabs are good or if they are oppressive. Is Nike going to be lauded or accused of supporting the oppression of women?

Both.
I'm sure some 'fans' will try to leverage this to espouse their agenda, but they don't really matter. It's an inclusive move at heart and that's what will resonate with most.

Theoretically it actually empowers women. They are not to be judged on appearance, they are protected from eyes as men are pigs and hair is often something that people will look at as an attractive quality.
The issue arises when some don’t make it the woman’s choice and force it upon their wife/sister/child.
In the Western world holistically it’s a choice.

Uhh what exactly is a load of crap?
I know a plethora of Muslim girls who go by that logic and had no pressure to put a hijab on.
Maybe you should kill more pigeons and not speak on what you don’t know.

I'm not a fan of the hijab at all, whether it's a choice or forced, but it doesn't make any difference. The fact is that if they're going to be wearing a hijab, which they will, they now have the option to rock a Raptors logo and show a little extra individuality while supporting our team. That's a good thing, and good for the Raptors for having the balls to do it first.

Sure, those two things are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

This is like that old Backstreet Boys song. "As Long as You Love Me". Is it really a sweet song, or are they saying I don't care who you are as long as you give me money.

So what's the issue? Quebec culture puts a very strong emphasis on secularism why disparage their cultural views and not respect that?

This isn't the time or the place but long story short, that's just simply not what's happening
