Justise Winslow to be the Heat’s starting PG
And ESPN is a joke. They didn’t realize that Winslow started most of his games last year at PG lol
He averaged 13/5/5 in 52 games as a starter last year. He looked really good with a couple of breakout games. He uses his size to get to the basket and can defend any perimeter player. He still needs to improve his shooting (from 3 and the FT line).
Having a Winslow/Butler backcourt, along with Adebayo and Miami’s general toughness, will make this Heat team an elite defense (which was already 6th last year).
Butler can finally be the go-to player and unquestioned leader that he’s always wanted to be. And he’s money as a closer. He can legitimately get you a win in a close game.
Spacing may be a problem but I’m thinking the league slows down a little bit with fewer 3s since the Warriors are done and so many teams have big frontcourts.
The Heat are gonna be a surprise team.

Good luck with that Justice. Must not be aware the Heat traded for Jimmy Butler, who will demand the offense runs through him.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

I guess I'm a joke too because this is confusing to me. Isn't Goran Dragic still on the team and hasn't he been the Heat's starting point guard for several years now? Winslow has primarily played at forward. Or I'm drunk?

Re: Justice Winslow to be the Heat’s starting PG next year
Not going to lie, that was really hard to watch. It just goes to show though, these people on these shows really dont watch that much basketball. It was only like a year or two ago McGrady on the Jump said something along the lines of, "I have to watch a lot of basketball for this job, Im watching 6-7 games a week".
But this just shows these 3 didn't watch any Heat games last year. I love the spin of Rachel at the end, like Justise is this malcontent and he is stepping out of bounds telling Riley and Spo what his role is going to be. Hello when Dragic went down last year, Spo moved Winslow to PG and that became his position. If they watched any Heat games last year they would know this.
I mean you really dont even have to look that hard for this. His new nickname last year was PointJustise because his game took a huge step the second they moved him to PG and Miami Heat's official twitter account was calling him PointJustise for the majority of the year on Twitter.

It was an awkward segment for sure. The tangent that Justise is overriding Spo or Riley was really weird...but it is true that it doesn't matter what we call players. Dragic has shown some signs of aging, but I think they need him to be a key player anyways. If you were to draw up their best lineup, it probably has him in it.

per bballref Justise played 0% of his snaps at PG last season...Goran Dragic 100% at PG
but yes, Nichols and Freidel are morons either way I agree.

Winslow was the Heat’s PG last year.
Although he technically didn’t start every game at PG, he was slotted over to PG early in the season and stayed there the rest of the year. He had all his best games at PG.

So what will Dragic do? Stand on the three point line while Winslow and Butler stroke the ball? Play backup PG to Winslow?
Just trade my boy to the Lakers, let him have a good role and a chance to win a ring before he rides into the sunset.

Cool thx. I guess I figured he was filling in for injured Dragic last year and would relinquish the position when Dragic came back. Spo's comments called him the starting PG but that was last December when their actual starting PG was out.
But whatever the Heat want to do is cool with me. Now I'm wondering if between Winslow, Dragic and Butler, too many guys are going to think they're the primary ball handler. But if could work if they all buy in.

Re: Justise Winslow to be the Heat’s starting PG
Yeah, this is cringeworthy. Winslow was their best point guard last season. And while Dragic was starting and maybe “listed” as PG, he definitely operated in more of an off ball role a lot of the time. I mean, he also only played 36 games last year.
I can see them starting Winslow, Butler and Dragic, but letting Winslow be the point guard while operating as a de facto forward. Will be interesting how they’ll manage rotations this year, because Butler will be asking for the ball a lot.

I cannot conceive that ESPN thought it was a good idea to have this woman do NBA countdown. Truly stunning.

Seriously is it so hard just to say, "to be honest Rachel I didnt get to watch too many Heat games last year so I really dont know much on this."
Its okay to not know everything. This is like when Stephen A called Dwayne Haskins more of a runner than a thrower (threw for almost 5k yards and rushed for 108 yards), or my favorite talking heads talking about things they know nothing about
Seriously if you dont know the subject being discussed, no big deal to say, "ya not to sure on this subject if Im being honest."

Semantics. Dragic is still going to start and he was already naturally going to play more off ball with Butler, while Winslow will still defend wings.

Re: Justise Winslow to be the Heat’s starting PG
If Dragic is starting (with Winslow and Butler), isn't claiming Winslow to be the starting PG much like the Spurs claiming Matt Bonner was their starting center and Duncan a PF?
If Dragic isn't starting (and there's a strong case that having him dominate the ball with bench lineups is a good plan), then who is the 3rd perimeter starter for Miami? Waiters? Some SF I've forgotten?
