Toronto was one of four teams that worked out Taylor this offseason, with Boston, Denver and Phoenix being the others. The point guard's signing fills out the Raptors' training camp roster, which has 12 guaranteed, five partials (including Taylor) and three non-guaranteed contracts. Taylor averaged 6.6 points and 3.1 assists per game for the Hawks during the 2017-18 season. He was waived by Cleveland last October while sidelined due to a stress fracture in his leg.

Pretty clear Raps wanted a PG option for the two-way spot. Gives them flexibility with the 15th roster spot, especially if Cam Payne proves he's not worthy of the 3rd string PG role and/or Malcolm Miller or any of the Exhibit 10 guys show out.

because local beat wirters dont have connecions with agents/agencies. why would an agent/agency develop relations with a regional writer, when a national writer will give more returns for a small favor. mojority off all the early reporting on deals is leaked through the agents, not the teams.

this isnt a case of raptors beat writers falling on the job, its the case in 95% of the teams unless that team has a dedicated ESPN reporter, ramona shelborne with the LA teams. royce yonnge with the thnder, windy with the cavs/lebron etc.

how many local beat writers break anything of significance, the only stuff local writers have an upper hand on compared to national writers is if there is a story or dysfunction with the team / management / owner. anything player related involves agents and the national news breakers.
