First post needs to be the obligatory CP3 to the Knicks trade (with a twist)

Thunder trade:

Chris Paul
2020 Nuggets 1st Round Pick (top 10 protected)
2021 Miami 1st Round Pick

Thunder receive:
Hassan Whiteside
Elfrid Payton

Why for the Thunder?
Get off CP3s contract giving them maximum flexibility at the cost of 2 draft picks

Knicks trade:

Bobby Portis
Marcus Morris
Elfrid Payton

Knicks receive:
Chris Paul
2020 Nuggets 1st Rounder (top 20 protected
2020 Blazers 1st Rounder (top 14 protected)
2021 Miami 1st Rounder

Why for the Knicks?
trade in their future cap space flexibility for a veteran PG who can provide leadership to this young team and get a boatload of draft picks in the process. This allows the Knicks with 5 future draft picks from other teams to get the next big star on the market or move up in the draft to get a targeted prospect.

Blazers trade:
Hassan Whiteside
2020 1st Round Pick (top 14 protected)

Blazers receive:
Marcus Morris
Bobby Portis

Why for the Blazers? Whiteside is a waste for them. Use him 27mil expiring to get 2 role players who should immediately contribute. I see Morris as an exceptional fit for them

I'd have to have a few shots, if I was Scott Perry, before I accepted any offer for him but a move for DLo makes some sense on a macro level depending on the price.

I dont see OKC being competitive for next few seasons. They dont have any rush do deal Paul. When they deal him, they expect to gain assets in the trade.

A move for delay if you wanted to make it should’ve been made during FA when you had 70mil to spend

Marcus Morris should hopefully fetch us a 1st rounder from a team contending this year. Granted it'll end up being a late 1st rounder, but I think that's where his value should be at in mid December barring injuries. they need to give him some exposure beforehand and hopefully he can pick up his level of play a bit.

Hopefully we can get something for Portis (2nd rounders plus expiring to match?) and Payton (probably next to nothing.)

I'd hold onto all our young assets- Knox, Robinson, RJ, Frank, DSJ, Trier- since most of their value is quite low and I'd rather this team build from within. I like a lot of our young guys, they're just in a tough situation trying to fight for minutes with 1 year overpaid veterans.

Randle, Ellington, M.Morris and DSjr for C.Paul, Adams, and one of the Clippers 1st round pick.

CP/Frank/Trier
RJ/Payton/Trier
Knox/Payton
Portis/T.Gibson
Adams/Mitch

We have a chance to make a run in the weak Eastern Conference

Julius Randle + Dennis Smith, Jr. to GSW for D’Angelo Russell

Marcus Morris + Alonzo Trier + Wayne Ellington for Chris Paul + Clipper 1st + LAC 1st

Chris Paul — Frank Ntilikina
D’Angelo Russell — Reggie Bullock
RJ Barrett — Damyean Dotson
Kevin Knox — Bobby Portis
Mitchell Robinson — Taj Gibson

That team can move the ball, shoot, lead, “tough”, young, and experienced. We’d go to war. Will our front office be smart? Probably not.

I don't think there is a world where not trading for Chris Paul isn't the smartest move our FO can make

I guess it depends on the number of picks we can get in return.

i.e. 3 first round picks or the delusion that we're gonna sign Giannis in 2021 with all this capspace?

We could probably rent out our capspace for 1sts without needing to commit $40M/yr to an aging player until 2022

Honestly, I'm not so sure. Plus if you can get multiple first rounders in one deal and add a competitive veteran who can show the ropes to some of these young guys, I mean why not. I get why you'd be reluctant to make a move for CP3 (who I despise btw), but getting more first round picks and adding a respected vet would not be the worst move in recent Knicks history. I'm not even saying we should necessarily go there, just that it's an option worth considering.

Here's my trade:

Marcus Morris and Elfrid Payton for Goran Dragic and Ryan Anderson. Throw in a couple 2nd rounders if need be.

Although with the way Dragic has started the season, Riley might ask for a little more than that. But Morris fits the culture. Dragic would bring some much needed shooting from the guard position, some veteran leadership and some playmaking without having to dominate the ball. I think he would do wonders for this team.

Did you see Morris with that bag of ice on his right knee last night?

So they gained multiple assets in exchange for taking on his bad contract and they expect to gain more assets for trading away his bad contract?
