Garrett Attack.

Post#1 » by laika » Fri Nov 15, 2019 12:52 pm

Well that was crazy.
Garrett pretty much has to be suspended the rest of the season. Will he get more than that? Should he be charged with a crime?
Interesting to see what the NFL does with Pouncy.

Yes it was, I don't excuse him, but amazing Rudolph didn't get hurt, not after the helmet swing, but with the Steelers having him dropping back with the game pretty much over and his line not holding up.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

total over reaction by the nfl…but even more by the media and the average wuss on twitter... everyone saying I have never seen anything like this apparently never played sports at a personal level and definitely not in farm country or on the less fortunate side of the city...crock of bs. suspend him for 4 games to let the punishment equal the crime and get over it.
I mean c 'mon man he didn't even hurt little Rudy so it could not have been as bad as people say it looked.
my brothers use to put a helmet on my head when I was 12 and beat the **** out of me , one day I took that helmet off and you can only guess what the next thing I did with it was... the protector wasn't protecting them.
and they had it coming.
Rudy had it coming and in fact invited it.
here is a little clip of the same kind of rage in the movies that people easily have no issue with.

The Nfl is soft if he gets more than 6 games max helmet as a weapon or not

Dude I don't know - Garrett probably could have killed him if that helmet would have connected. Not sure it's really an overreaction

I do think it's an overreaction to Pouncey though - the O-linemen's job is to protect their QB so he really shouldn't get any suspension. Garrett got off easy since there weren't more Steelers right there

have you ever been hit by a helmet? I have and it is nothing like being hit by something heavy like a concrete block or with high velocity force like a bat both of which I have been hit from behind with and hurt like hell for days.
I would imagine it all comes down to what it looks like on nat tv to any children who were up past their bedtime and how it sends a message that doing what he did is ok if they don't crucify him for it.

I haven't been hit with a helmet without wearing a helmet. But have you seen Garrett? All things considered, I think he might be due for steroid testing

not unlikely and not unusual at all in the NFL but if the league actively brought down the hammer regarding doping the level of play would cease to be entertaining enough to justify the ticket costs.
i actually was entertained by this fight and would rather see him reinstated after a 1 game suspension for the wwe type atmosphere and so the league can profit off of the commercials building up the rematch in 2 weeks...
i dont advocate the use of weapons in malicious acts of violence on defenseless people, i do however feel what he did fit the situation perfectly and is not at all unjustified.

I think a full season suspension is much, but let him face criminal charges in court.

How exactly did Rudolph "instigate" this? Was it by allowing Garrett to hit him late and get pinned down? Let's do this we reenact this and I'll be Garrett and you be Rudolph and see if you feel Rudolph deserved a game? I promise I'll only hit you lightly with the helmet.

I definitely would have given him a game for trying to pull Garrett's helmet off and kicking him, and then continuing to go after him. In a vacuum, that's only a flag and, maybe, if the refs are trying to defuse everything and get off the field, an ejection. (With Garrett, even before he swung the helmet.) And that does not condone what Garrett did at all. Frankly, if it were up to me, I'd probably tack on another four games to start next season for an even 10. It was the equivalent of shooting somebody if they shoved you on the street. Totally and grossly disproportionate.

But even though Rudolph didn't even remotely deserve having his helmet yanked off and then clubbed with it, he isn't entirely blameless. While he might not have started it -- Garrett did by wrestling him down after he'd gotten rid of the ball -- Rudolph escalated it by yanking on Garrett's helmet and shoving his foot in or near his groin, and continuing to try to get in his face, and then Garrett went completely over the top.

that makes zero sense...it was in a game where violence is celebrated. besides criminal charges would be felonious and carry over 10 years if convicted.

dude if you were Rudolph and you got pinned to the ground and hit late I think he has the right to defend himself.

As far as pressing charges it won't happen but it's hardly unprecedented google Marty McSorley.

He's got zero cause to do this. Zero. That doesn't absolve or excuse what Garrett did in the slightest. But he absolutely played a role in escalating the situation. Frankly, it wasn't even that bad of a hit. He's at the end of a crappy game in which he played terribly and he lost his composure. Then Garrett told him to hold his beer and went batsh*t.

A 6'4" 275lb man swinging a 5lb weapon at another person anywhere else would be Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault or Felonious Assault, at the very least, depending on the injuries. There is an expected level of violence but using a helmet as a weapon takes it from sport to real life.
