Let's talk about Spo

Post#1 » by al bondiga » Thu Dec 12, 2019 11:14 pm

let's face it, he has done a great job, perhaps one best in the league, admit I haven't loved was he had accomplished after Wade LeBron Bosh, to me , he was obviously under achieving... he is exploiting everyone almost to the best of their ability... was I judging him a bit wrong because he needed more Talent?

Simple: If you look at Spo (even if you disagree with some of his decisions) you should see a hard-working innovative coach with massive success (even outside the championship years) who really cares about his players and helps them realize their potential (provided they are also committed to changing.) If you don't, you're judging him wrong.

There is still time for him to go full on Stannis if the Heat don't win a championship though.

Lack of talent can only get a team so far. Exploiting someone is a strong word though. How about we use the word “utilizing”? And yes he is utilizing everyone in the rotation almost to the best of their ability.

Pretty sure you are Kevin Durant too. The weak lat part of myself. Not sure why I talk to myself so much. Is anyone here not Kevin Durant?

I’ve been critical at times of Spo and his Spobot ways. His defensive system in the past seemed like it started to worsen as the NBA evolved, and offensively, our schemes were basic and predictable. The Diawara and Babbit experiments, the rigid rotations and lack of game awareness at times was frustrating.

However, I think this season has arguably been his best so far as a coach. Maybe a tad hyperbolic given he’s a 2 time champion coach, and made a big call shifting CB to Center that revolutionized the stretch 5 role...but he’s really on his chit this szn.

He made some big calls; Nunn as a day 1 starter was surprising, and Robinson’s development from fringe NBA player to essential component of a Top 5 team can’t be understated. He has been more fluid and flexible than in the past, trusting players more and bringing the best out of them.

It’s just a good vibe around the team right now. Not even this Dion or JJ business, or multiple injuries to key guys seems to be dampening the mood.

The time after the Big Three era was about destroyed by the whole LeBron saga, objectively speaking. Waiting all this time for him prevented us from reshaping the roster properly. Then there was the whole Bosh saga, who was on a massive contract and missed good parts of seasons with his health issues. Wade was also not his best self anymore, but that Wade plus Bosh and a fitting supporting cast could have gone some ways.

So with that being said, a lot of things went against us. Spo has always improved, been very calm and steady and has evolved into a very good coach. We are reaping the benefits of his development now.

the backlash from almost all of the country NBA fans and teams regarding the big three era was too much to deal with... that being said breaking his in game rigidity towards decision making has worked wonders, I salute him
And now I really I appreciate Bosh contributions

You've given him so much hate over the years.
